So being very dedicated to doing a perfect job, I decided to create a temporary fix:

It's held up for a few hundred miles now but I will remove the boost tap as I figured it's pointless in my setup and just an extra point of potential failure. I did plan to do that on the next round of the build, but I got distracted with something...

You basically have two boost taps now fitted to the car.  Remove the inner one and just use the outer one, but with the c-clip from the inner one.  Pop out a grub screw and use the 'T' from the inner one into the outer one.  You only need the one.

Yeah, realised that after driving away from the workshop! In my line of work, to be called "a fist" is the same as being called an idiot... Now you understand the username... :happy2:

So after a long, long day in AmD Tuning, it's finally tuned up! Better pictures will be uploaded over the coming week once I get some under car shots and give her a clean before showing her off publicly.

They spent a fair few hours mapping the ECU and DSG properly for me, during the early power runs the clutch packs were slipping, despite only having covered 32K miles. The torque has been mapped down in both the lower and upper ranges to make sure the clutch packs handle the power smoothly and the DSG map was also tweaked a fair bit to make sure it's at the very limit of what can be achieved. Needless to say, beyond where I am now will require some non-reversible modifications so I'll have to seriously think about things now.

I'll write up about the ECU and DSG maps in a week or so once I've covered some miles and got the DSG trained up. Initial impressions are mixed while I adjust to the new sounds and feel of the car. Power delivery is a bit brutal at the moment and the noise one shifting at high RPM is something I need to get my head around, currently not liking the sound it makes as it sounds brutal again but guess that's just the price you pay for going to a higher level of tune!

I will say at even this early stage (less than 100 miles covered) it's a totally different machine to drive, the power is so much more available, so much earlier and for so much longer. I'd like to get some proper figures of 0-62mph and 0-100mph as its certainly a fair bit quicker than stock! I haven't even tried launch control yet (was disabled on my stock map).

Nice one, what kind of power did you make with software only?

Am i not right in thinking you normally increase the requested clamping load pressure with the DSG map?

Normally they can take the usual 380lb/ft torque no problem and im guessing you wont even be at that if otherwise standard?

Ive no experience with DSG but thats what i thought the deal was?

I'm not giving out exact figures just yet, would prefer to get them verified first. But all I'll say is the map was down tuned to get the torque below the level you quoted there. :happy2:

Oh, it's running full stage 2+ hardware and a custom ECU + DSG map from AmD Tuning, yes. Went for the Milltek 3 inch turbo back non-resonated system with sports cat as I really like the sound of their exhausts. And for the cost, it worked out over £1000 cheaper to get the Milltek and AmD maps over anything else I looked at.

@xjay1337 - No, I've never heard of R-Tech before, are they new around here? :P I wonder how many "should of gone to R-Tech" comments I can rack up?

You should have gone to R-Tech  :booty:  :booty:

Looks like those numbers will be pretty tasty, very surprised the clutchpacks are slipping at this point though. I thought they could take anything a K04 was capable of and a fair bit more.

Did they not adjust the DSG clutchpack clamping force. No way you should be getting clutch slip.

Yeah, they had a good play with the DSG map, think it was slipping under a stock map. But will see, as I think I've seen a few cases of a very highly tuned stage 2 engine hitting the limits of a stock DSG map in terms of clamping force. What I really need to do is get into a car with a Revo or other DSG map to compare (provided stage 2+ is also being run).

Decided to get the last outstanding stage 2+ modifications applied without delay, so got the coil pack tools and a socket set out to fit up new plugs and R8 coil packs.

These little tools make life so much easier, mine are a set of 4 so most coil packs can be removed safely.

While getting the plugs out and new ones in, the oil cap was annoying me slightly...

So I decided to move it to tidy the engine bay up.

Not sure if it'll go back on as it looks like I've snapped the neck clean around the join at the rocker cover! Looks nice now but I'll either have to replace the whole rocker cover or just acept that the oil cap will be regressed into the engine cover when returned to stock.
