Should be plug and play, you may also need to do the 6 O'clock mod on the bulb bases.

I put hid kit in mine and took it straight back out for the reasons you are having.
Put good bulbs back in and you will be fine

They give you rubber grommets to prevent any water seepage into the lights and you're meant to drill a 22mm hole into the rear lamp cover where the wiring go through and then the rubber grommet seals the hole.

Yeah I know but I'm talking about the ballast connections..
Not had an issue with them even after a heavy rain fall. car wash. must be lucky I guess.
