Car turned on with dashboard airbag sensor unplugged
« on: August 30, 2016, 10:12:35 pm »
Hey all,

I turned my car on without plugging in my airbag light sensor back into the dashboard. (was wiring in my sub)

My airbag light now remains on when I turn my car on. I know its not a fault cos its triggered by me unplugging the sensor.

My mate had this Maxiscan MS509 image below so we did a scan and no codes came up or got flagged. We tried the clear memory option and everything. But the light remains on? Should I try buying the VW scanner this guy uses in the following video? Think he is using the U281 OBD scanner linked below.

Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks
G

Most scan tools only pick up engine OBD2 codes, nothing manufacturer specific or for any other systems such as ABS, airbags etc.

Find someone with a VW specific tool such as VCDS and ask them to clear the code. Will take about a minute to do

This...

Or the carista app with an obd can clear airbag codes.
