New discs and pads
« on: September 24, 2016, 10:14:39 pm »
The time has come to replace.
Not got prices for OEM yet but tempted by the MTEC discs, think I've read here that the grooved discs are of more use than drilled?
Anyhow noticed you can get a black coating on them, worth the £24 extra?
Also what are Mintex pads like, or should I get something else? Normal driving no track stuff!!
So much choice out there....  :rolleye:

I recently fitted Mtec C hooks all round with red stuff front pads (upon the recommendation of VWR who supplied my springs / dampers combo). Haven't detected any downside so far besides the hub sections are already rusting as I didn't think to upgrade to the pianted versions.

C hook/slotted/etc/etc will allow gases to be released from between the pad and discs, it should help reduce pad 'fade' and increase friction between pad n discs
