I know I was very surprised when my garage said it was the original battery although they did test it and only has something like 45% left I think they said? so won't be long before I purchase another one. will have a look at those batterys now :)

I've still got the original battery on my gti and mines a 56 plate. just starting to struggle to start in the mornings now although only used on a weekend. will be a purchase soon before it gets too cold

Judging by the picture, my 06 plate has the original battery too  :P

Yes, amazed at durability of original batteries!

Have re-checked my old one (all six sides), and can find nothing to bottom-out it's dom.
Not marked as per Varta site...any one here have the know-how?

Eddy has been parked for 2 weeks, and went first oull on a frosty morning. Niggle resolved. Happy!

Just fitted mine, I rushed in so I bought the one I linked previously, arrived yesterday morning, so great service from them. works a treat :happy2:! Yes I agree 10 years on my 56 plate battery was pretty good going!

Just an update from mine: My starting issue was actually the PCV valve not sealing up properly, but felt like the car was turning over unnecessarily slowly from a low battery

Sorry to drag this back up.  @Bigjimknickers how are you getting on with the Dynavin head unit? I'm thinking of getting one just after xmas.

@m4tty personally I wouldn't bother, I'm currently selling my Mk5 & im not even going to remove the dynavin N6 on trade in, if I was to do it again I'd buy a kenwood.
Maybe I'm being too harsh, I mean, but now have Bluetooth hands free, iPod connectivity, BT audio streaming, & sat nav, it's just the sat nav isn't very good really (just the maps) but everything else works very well.
I paid a lot less than £550 that was on the receipt, if I had paid that I wouldn't of been very pleased.
