Chris92's rising blue golf mk6 R
« on: November 06, 2016, 05:54:18 PM »
Hello

So after owning two mk5 gti's in the past and the last one was sold in April 2016 I was stuck between either a golf mk6 r or a Ford Focus mk2 rs, well I think you can guess which one I have sitting on my drive right now  :happy2:

I traveled a round trip of 505miles to V-HUBS in Gloucestershire which is a Volkswagen specialist to view/buy it on the 31/10/2016, it's a very clean golf mk6 r.

Spec:
2010
Manual
Rising blue
5door
19" black alloy wheels
Full black headlights
Cloth seats
MDI
Rcd510
43,000 miles
Full vw service history

the rising blue is amazing in the flesh, massively in love with the car  only colour to have the R in imo, just that little bit more special in rising blue  :happy2: it's not the best specked up 6R but to be honest the only thing I'd of liked on top of what it has would of been leather seats or the wing backs and sat nav, apart from that I either didn't want such as sun roof or don't ever use such as cruise control so not far off plus I can always upgrade  main things were rising blue, 5door, manual, full black headlights (spoils the front end slightly with the sliver parts in lights),full service history, fully standard and of course all the usual such as good body work etc so I'm very happy with it

Looking to go stage 2+ in the future but this will most likely be a slow build, first up tho is to fix the haldex and give it a full service, hopefully the haldex will be fixed tomorrow

Very nice and you live in just the right area for that car to enjoy it to its full potential.  :happy2:

Thanks  :happy2: yeah it's a very Clean car very happy with it. No the one in the other post will have been a white 2012 plate one at Darlo, I went to see it twice and both times said I'd take it but never did. So pleased I didn't buy it.

Very nice and you live in just the right area for that car to enjoy it to its full potential.  :happy2:

Thanks, yes it certainly is a great place to enjoy the car surrounded by some great roads here and can get away with a little spirted driving   :driver:

Stunning. You right about the colour. There is one local to me and the pictures don't do it justice.

What's the plans for it or keeping it standard?
mk5 Graphite Blue GTI - Leathers, Xenons, MFD2, PDC, Boot Pop
mk7 Pure White GTI - Performance Pack, Xenons, DSG, Leathers, Pro Nav, Dynaudio, Self Park, Keyless, 19" Santaigo's

100% agree the pictures of the colour don't do it juictice it's amazing in person, can't wait until the spring to give it a good detail and correct the paintwork. It's not bad just wants a good polish with my DA to remove a few light swirls and enhance the paint

No this one is hopefully going to end up at stage 2+ but first up I need the haldex fixing and it's due a service so they are my first things to sort out. Hopefully this time next week I will have them ticked off  :happy2:

Tonight mission was to fix the haldex as my front two wheels just spin up everytime i accelerated hard.

Here the new parts, haldex pump and haldex oil

Old pump removed and the little filter on it is fairly gunked up

New pump in, drained haldex oil and refilled.

Cleared fault code and took it for a spin and can confirm no wheel spin at all even on the cold wet roads, totally different car as to what it was :happy2: one happy man. Next up is to service the car

Not just me who's been busy then :happy2: were you getting front wheel spin or was the haldex due a oil change? Whats the milage/age service intervals for the haldex do you know? Am I right in thinking its 40,000 miles?

I've heard of haldex oil getting really dirty on the 7R in 15,000 miles  probably why there's been a few failures with such low miles.

Looks like yours could have failed because of dirty oil
NOW: 2015 Golf R DSG 5 Door, Lapiz Blue, 19s, Discover Nav, Reversing Camera
GONE:2007 Black GTI Edition 30 3dr

Oil seemed clean when I changed it but I'm sure the haldex on the 6R is every 40k so it needed changing anyways. Either way pump or oil its running great now, what a different car it is now. Also order a new haldex filter as when I asked vw for it I never got it so I've ordered one from awesome gti, just a shame I never seen it on their website before I did the job but it was only two days ago I did it and only done around 50miles since so won't of done any harm without fresh filter.

Was busy with the car again at the weekend giving it a good service with these parts

Millers 5w40 nano drive oil
Mann oil filter
Mann air filter
Mann fuel filter
Ngk spark plugs
Gold plug magnetic sump bolt
Genuine Rev G dv
Genuine cam follower kit
Genuine oil pick up pipe
Genuine oil pick up pipe O ring
Genuine haldex oil filter
BG fuel system cleaner

Sump off and new oil pick up pipe fitted plus new o ring (old one was fine but being this far down may as well swap it over) just did this for peace of mind really.

Next was to clean the sump out

Before

After

Sump bolted back on and new gold plug magnetic sump bolt in along with new oil filter

Next was to change the fuel filter (never been changed)

New spark plugs fitted

New filter verus old one

New cam follower kit which includes the seal on pump

Old verus new

Changed the dv from a red d to a g. Thought all k04 engines ca,e with a g standard?

Old one

New one

Oil poured in, fuel system cleaner poured into fuel cap, started car up and topped oil up again and finally reset service light. Was dark by now so had to leave the haldex filter until the next day
