Help deciphering VCDS scan
« on: November 29, 2016, 06:00:39 pm »
Hi guys

I need some expertise and Help deciphering VCDS result.

My symptoms seem to be some sort of battery drain, I recently replaced both door locks as they were faulty and I have also replaced the battery so it's not that.

Some of my errors relate to the radio as I don't have one at the moment and can someone point me in the right direction for the alarm malfunctions I'm thinking maybe a fuse has been pulled in the past as the faulty door locks were maybe setting off the alarm. There is a lot of unknown history with this vehicle too!!.

I believe many alarm fault codes can be attributed to a duff siren module, which is under one of the front wheel arch covers I believe.  It has an internal battery which dies or something.  Interior ultrasonic sensors can be flakey too.

How long is the battery taking to flatten?   You can also get P1602 from disconnecting the battery.   Have you tried clearing the codes and see which ones come back repeatedly?

I think I'm going to try a new alarm module as I know the ara doesn't sound so it's worth a try.

I was just worried as none of the alarm sensors respond so I was thinking that it could be the alarm module that is duff.

Thanks for the advice

I've got siren and interior monitoring sensor fault codes too.  Let me know if replacing the siren module solves your problems!  I hear it is pretty expensive from VW tho!

Ive got a "genuine" bosch siren module on its way from china as we speak. If I fit mine and its any good, ill be sure to post up the link. FYI it was £25odd rather than the ~£150 from western suppliers!

EDIT: You wont believe this but as I finished the above, the post arrived at my desk, and within I found the module! Shipping from china was quicker than expected, at around 10 days. On Ffirst inspection looks legit with the righ p/no and stamping etc. Will be a few weeks before I fit, so cant comment on operation of the part. Searching ebay for "1k0 951 605 C", the first result is the one I went for @£25.16.

Retroraz had used to China one and it works perfectly so there's no reason not to buy one and comes with an extended wiring harness so I'm sure it can also be relocated or need be  :happy2:

Did you have battery drain problems when your alarm wasn't working ?
