Took my mate who used to work for AAT about 30-45 mins each side.
The pain is getting to the two nuts at the back of the hub, as there is very little room to access them if you are only jacking the car up, and mine on both sides were seized to high hell.

Ive ordered some SNR bearings from ECP for £68, VW are £130odd according to the old invoices that came with the car.
I had to order a 30 & 32mm as I dont know what the car has fitted, will return the one not needed.

Are you happy with the SNR bearings? I'm torn between manufacturer and third party. Just thinking of the £££

I used a third party, can't remember the brand. From a motor factors not an eBay special.

Seemed good quality and the fitment was good. Very quiet now, i'd expect the VW part to last longer if you did pay the extra but how much longer you'd never know.

So the OSR bearing was fitted today and..........there is still some noise coming from the back. :signLOL:
Only had a short drive back so need to drive it more to verify better but I'm thinking it might be tyre noise, the inner edges of the rear are more worn and mate said that's common on these cars?
