There has been 2 sets for sale recently on mk5 golf parts for sale on fb. Both were circa 2k and looked to be in anthracite the same standard colour gti leather.

I don't really get excited for the leather ones but the cloth/tartan versions are muy bueno :notworthy:

Personally I can't justify 2k on some seats when the whole car is worth maybe 4 lol

£2K for a pair of s/hand seats someone's farted into a million times is ludicrous!

Still, to put things into perspective, I recently asked VW to price up an ED30 drivers seat (3 door).   They don't sell complete seats for some stupid reason.  Only bits of it.  £2500 in bits + an upholsterer to build it up.   Madness.

I didn't even know tartan wingbacks existed, so some quick googling reveals this.  I think I prefer the look of the standard seat tbh!

I just got vw to price the Recaro's for a Clubsport and that came to £5086 per seat. As you say Part's only, dealer did offer to build and fit for free.  :jumping:

Blimey if they are worth £2k they are over half the value of my motor!!

 :drinking:

What peeps advertise things at isnt always what they sell for though are they!

My passenger one has only been sat in a handful of times!

Minimal wear on the drivers side too considering the 177k mileage

But they do make it a lovely place to sit - and are so comfy

They look great in leather  :happy2:

£5K for a seat   It's almost like they don't want to sell us stuff!  You can buy a pair of ready built and bloody nice aftermarket Recaros for less than that!

I agree - the price of wingback seats are stupid money. After having my old mkiv broken into and an R32 interior stolen - would I ever spend that money on 'special' seats again, no way until I have a decent garage!

The picture you have posted there is Mateyguv's custom set of tartan/leather trimmed wingback seats in a style to mirror if they were an OEM option on the ED30. He sourced a set of cloth R32 wingbacks (rare in themselves, I think), then had to source enough tartan to trim the middles, which was no mean feat I understand. The sides were custom leather nappa leather - am amazed this car hasn't popped up on here again. Will do someday, I'm sure...

I agree, the cost of individual OEM replacement parts for the ED30 seats must be eye-wateringly enough. Just ask for the cost of the seat covers - you don't need a whole seat, and make sure you're sitting down anyway!  Or maybe a trimmer could sort it?

As per Dave's post above,

I'd be very worried about getting my 4k car lifted, just for the 2k seats. It's quite a problem with some Audi apparently?

...but then, these wing backs don't do it for me.

Assume your insurers know? Or you can prove that they were a factory fitted option? I could otherwise see this getting messy?
