TTRS Brake setup advice
« on: July 24, 2017, 12:46:23 pm »
Hi. Just purchased a TTRS setup secondhand. The front discs seem to be pagid J hook discs 340/5mm, and by god they are noisy!!!! Sounds like a bee buzzing with the window down and really rumbling from a big stop. Think i'm just going to change them for a new set.

My question is what discs? Something quiet and not badly priced. I was thinking the brembo sport 340's with anti rust coating? Can anyone vouch for these? Or any other alternatives i'm missing? Thanks again Adam

Get the best you can afford. It might just be me, but I'm finding the more affordable 340mm discs (Pagid, Mintex etc) a little susceptible to warping/runout/whatever it is.

The Brembos should be good, and proper OEM discs from the dealer.

If you fancy something a bit special you can get the 2 piece 340mm Clubsport S discs from Vagbremtechnic. They're 300 odd quid a pair, not sided, and not fully floating (as far as I know), but are probably as good as it gets before you get close to a grand for the likes of AP fully floating discs.

@AJP Thanks for that. Actually hadn't realised i could use the clubsport S disc? That could be the way, a little more weight saving over a stock 340mm aswell. Cheers again, Adam.

I think the Clubsport S might have different hubs to the other cars that use 340mm discs, but I'm pretty sure they're still the right offset to go straight on.

Maybe double check with Alex at AKS, it's likely the adapter brackets you've got for using those calipers with 340s came through him from VBT, so he'll know.
