No. Cheap sh*te they claim is the same stuff or just as good. It's not.

Buy genuine. Do it once, do it properly

Ha, thought so... thanks mate! Off to the stealership then, see what they'll do me for trade.

3 litres yeah? And apart from the spline tools, which I have, there's nothing else you need is there? No flushes etc., or replacement seals/plugs/washers?

Cheers.

Hang on a minute, isn't the Fuchs stuff made for VW? This: Fuchs Titan Sintofluid FE SAE 75W is recommended on their website? Dealerships just re-badge it

Is there a guide on changing the oil anywhere ?

I've noticed I've had a slow leak from the bottom of my gearbox - might consider changing oil then the plug bolt too.

Any guides/thoughts/recommendations ?

That's a good point actually, probably the best time to change them, like you do with a regular oil change...

The genuine oil is the stuff to use.  Nothing else compares to it.

I hear you, and I'm the same but by all accounts, in my case anyway, the Fuchs stuff I I've linked too is exactly the same stuff that goes into the Stealership bottles...

It's like saying you only want a genuine VAG oil filter from them, VAG don't actually manufacture anything themselves service-wise, they have a supplier, Mann the last time I checked, and just put their stamp on things

Where do they recommend using anything other than their own oil? and do you have any proof that it is the same stuff? I highly doubt it is and would not be persuaded otherwise without proof.

Ha, hope I haven't opened a can of worms here... the source of this 'info' was the owner of my local dealership, a few years back he was telling my Dad, a Merc owner, about all the different suppliers/manufacturers etc. and that if bought directly, basically not from him, you would make a saving on service items - and that was from the owner of the place, so go figure :surprised:

I distinctly remember him saying that Fuchs supplied most of his groups fluids - at the time Audi, Merc and VW. I use the branded stuff VW recommend but where they don't I use Fuchs.
