Next on the list is to get my outer cv boots and joints replaced
I’ve been quoted about £80 to do both sides.

Maybe a red gti badge would look nice on the rear.

Looking good Raj. I am still running my BBS VZ but seeing yours makes me think I should stick the Monzas back on

Thanks @delob your bbs vs look much better IMO.  Man this weather and salt on roads are killing my monzas. I'm hopeing to get another set like yours and maybe spray these monzas Grey with black inserts.  :happy2:

Tempted to have a red gti logo like @shoaybmakda
I think it looks really good.

Thanks- but no longer mine anymore I sold the car! @Raj2212

But I got a genuine one from VW for about  £20. It's the same one they use on the MK7

Update:

Had an airbag fault come up on my dash after messing around with the front seats.

Got them cleared and thankfully hasn't come back, checked all the wiring below the seat before getting it cleared.

Had to swap out the larger radiator fan too, somehow mine had broke, felt slight vibrations when driving so popped the bonnet to find it missing a piece.

Fancied doing this myself with the help of a friends garage.

Had a look at this guide from Pelican parts before I cracked on.

Sorry there's not much photos. My phone died halfway through

https://www.pelicanparts.com/techarticles/Volkswagen_Golf_GTI_Mk_V/18-WATER-Removing_the_Shroud_and_Fans/18-WATER-Removing_the_Shroud_and_Fans.htm

4 xT27 bolts to take out on each corner. Then disconnected the bottom connector, bid fiddly to take out but got there in the end.  3 more bolts to undo to remove the fan and replaced nicely.

I got my replacement fan from another GTI. £20 bargain compared to £75+ for a new one. Gave it a clean before attaching to the car.

Managed to grab this piece for free.

 New fan in

Next on the list is to get my outer cv boots and joints replaced.
Quoted about £80 to do both sides including cv joints.

Maybe a red gti badge would look nice on the rear.
Motor is looking sweet

Switches have come. From ebay £32.00

Only thing is they've sent the wrong headlight switch so having to return that, but overall not bad, price wise cheap too and a UK Seller. Going to be putting these on soon

Thanks @petem86  :happy2: :happy2:

Another small update
Bonnet insulation removed

Cleaned up all the muck behind and cleaned my engine bay too.

Next up was to get the condensation out the rear outer lamp. Used a hairdryer to blow through where the bulbs go and left in front of a heater for a couple hours to fully dry out.

After

Also fitted the new window controls

Some shots all cleaned and polished with AutoGlym super resin polish.

Tightened up the bolts behind the lights to ensure they properly fitted snug and watertight this time round.

Nice work! Careful with the bonnet insulation: At least on my Leon, there are some holes right above the motor which can leak directly on the coils. I used some silicone to cover them after I've removed the insulation.

Thanks for the advice @teo_parvu. No sign of any leaks yet. Will look into this if the new one I've ordered takes ages to deliver..  :happy2:

Small Update:

After finally getting some sun I decided to do a bit of touch ups to the rusting parts.

Just a temporary fix until I save up for a respray.

Not the best job but not noticeable from far so not too fussed.

Cleaned the insides and added some contrasting black mats. Works well with the interior in my opinion. Non Genuine but  can't go wrong when they're £9 from eBay. Fitments not bad.

Small update :

Had my cv joints changed
Ended up getting this ODM brand, worked out at £26 each from a local parts shop and £35 labour to do each side.

No more clicking noises when turning at low speeds.

Got the correct switch headlight switch in too.

Also gave the bay a deeper clean.  Used degreaser and washed off carefully. Made sure to tape up the sensors. Looking much cleaner.
