Raj's United Grey GTi 2.0 DSG - Build Thread

Hi. My first ever build thread.  :happy2: :happy2:

Bought this in July 17. FSH, all mains bits upgraded to revised parts courtesy of the previous owner.

Revision G Diverter Valve
Latest PCV Valve
2x Cambelt Changes.
Just had its DSG serviced at VW. Twice in Its lifetime. Just over 105k. 4 new break disks and pads. 4 new tyres. Cam Follower changed to new.

Upgrades:
Miltek Exhaust, Ram Air Intake, Monza 2s, Edition 30 Front Bumper, R32 style rear bumper, lowered by 20mm on Eibach Springs. - engine completely stock. Roughly pushing 210-215 bhp. ( looking to visit R-Tech in the near future).

Previous owner kept the car Interior/Exterior in near new condition. Thanks mate.

Interior:
Heated Leathers
Central Leather Armrest
High-line Clocks
Cruise Control
Multifunctional Steering wheel with Paddle Shift extensions.
RCD 510

How I got it:

Wanted to change the rear lights, so nabbed that from my previous golf just before I sold it. ( Sadly written off by a sleeping driver ).

My late 05 GTI DSG

Edition 30 Lights in:

Interior:
After I tackled the lights. Wanted to upgrade the interior bits. Didn't like the pioneer stereo as it had no steering wheel controls.

Opted for the RCD510 - Delphi version as it allowed for USB ports to be added as well as being quite cheap.  Added a USB port for a finishing touch.  Didn't wanna risk an RNS510. Too much thievery around my ends.

Decided to wrap the centre console and side trims. As bits were fraying off the DSG and Centre. Wrapped in gloss black to match the glossy effect on the RCD510.

Side door trims were done in steel grey.

Pretty much it in terms of interior. - I do recommend getting this little beauty. Holds your phone in place with magnets.  £2.99 on EBay

Exterior:
I really wanted the Ed30 front and rear bumper and managed to grab a good deal from a lad who was breaking his.  Hit me up if anyone wants his details - think he's got few performance parts still.

Managed to grab both front and rear bumper already painted. Saved me from
buying new and getting painted. Huge savings.

Added both bumpers - currently sits like this:

Future Upgrades :

Performance Intercooler
Gloss Black extensions to the side skirts
Get the side skirts sprayed gloss black.
10-15mm Spacers so the Monza's look meaner.
Stage 1 @ R-Tech to 250-270 BHP.

What do you guys think ?
Still have my original Front and Rear Bumpers available. PM if interested.

Thanks for the comments  :happy2:

Got round to finding some painted side skirts in grey. - another win

Such a pain to fit them on though. I really do recommend ( if your wanting to colour code your skirts) to having yours painted and then spraying to help with fitting as these new ones did seem a little shorter. Had to use a heat gun to get the plastic to stretch a little.

To remove I used a T20 to remove 4 bolts, and flat blade to remove existing residue.
Some clips broke so I used some spacers to fit the skirt attachement back on.
Cleaned with alcohol and microfibres clothes.  Then stuck the new ones on.
Stuck an extra layer of double sided just for peace of mind.

Just completes the car now

If anyone is interested, in selling the originals.

More pics. Freshly washed.  :happy2:

Really wanna tackle my engine soundproofing, Read a few posts on here on whether it's ok to have off so I'm gong for it

The bits at the bottom of the soundproofing cover doesn't wanna sit in the holes. Currently held on by Gorilla tape. Lol. Any tips on ripping this out ? Bought some clips from eBay but it didn't really hold the bottom parts in place.

Had a browse on eBay and found someone selling brand new soundproofing from Germany. Gonna probably wait until that comes before removing the existing one. £51.

https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.co.uk%2Fulk%2Fitm%2F302298354002

Got round to giving the alloys and exhaust tips a good clean. No sign of white worm yet.   In two minds on keeping the Monzas.

Just needs  some spacers, mk6 window controls, grab handle trims, depo projector headlights and new mats.

Had my canbus changed due to having the battery drain issue. Turned out I had the F revision. Now upgraded to Q.

Had it coded in along with some other mods added by @Pashka
Now it chirps when unlocking << never knew this could be done
Now have additional orange side lights. Look mint
And had the seatbelt chime taken off

Daytime shot

Nightime

Also ordered a replacement keyfob from eBay. £6.50
For 2. Swapped out the internals. Works fine and looks newer

Ordered some cheap led lights from eBay, big flop. All the light came up with errors and gave off a blueish tint. Not the brighter white I was intending. Reverted back to my originals.

Just wanting better quality parking/side lights to match the whitish light of the standard halogen light and foglights.  Until I can save up for  depos

Plan now is to save up for engine/transmission mounts.

Small update:

Bought some 5000K Ulta Ultra Halogen bulbs from euro car parts just under £8. Giving off a nice white tone, looks much better than the standard yellow. Link below.

https://www.eurocarparts.com/ecp/p/car-parts/car-electrics-and-car-lighting/lighting1/car-bulb/?971775521&0&cc5_847&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIvrv6pLO02AIVYbftCh3iNQi2EAQYASABEgKiBPD_BwE

Found some led error free 501 sidelights from my local maxwise, and also some rear leds number plate lights to try out. Installed them with no errors

Led Sidelights cost £11 and number plate lights cost £10.

Drivers shots

Couple snaps  :happy2:

Looking to get a service soon. What are the best oil, spark plugs, filter etc to get. Also is it worth getting ignition coils done ? From the service book it's looking like they were done 2013 @ 70K. A new Cam follower was put in July this year. Worth getting that checked too ?

There's currently shell Helix Ultra 5w 40 oil in ATM, been topping up with the same stuff. Should I stick to this or go for something else. Any advice would be appreciated  :drinking:

Many Thanks Raj  :happy2:

You could consider Quantum Platinum 5W-40 oil, this is supplied by Volkswagen themselves and is OE Approved (VW 502.00). 5 litres can be had for around £20 if you look on eBay. Round off with a quality oil filter (MANN filter is about fiver from ECP) and you can get a decent oil change done for less than £30!

Thanks for that @PatchySan. £10 saving compared to Shell Helix.  :happy2:
