What size spacers for Monza 2's ??
« on: December 11, 2017, 05:34:49 pm »
I have standard 18"  7.5j Monza 2s. Wanting to get some spacers to get the rears to sit in line with the arch, and maybe even the front. But don't want the tyre to rub on the edges. What size would be best suited. ?? Currently like this and sat on 20mm eibach springs.

Look up front arch mod on here it will save you rubbing on the torx bolt at the top of the arch liner

I am currently running a 20mm drop on Eibach springs with Monza 2’s. I have 10mm spacers all round and it looks sweet. I would be careful if going anything more than 10mm on the front as I had some rubbing issues when I first lowered it. Performed the front arch mod as mentioned above and it’s sorted now but I still get a bit of rub when the car is fully loaded. Hopefully the picture gives you an idea of how it looks

Thanks mate. Nice one for the photos too. Really helpful. I'm thinking based on your pics 10mm and the front and 12mm at the rears.

Loving that back end. I still prefer that rear bumper to the one I've got. Wish I had mine painted like yours.  :happy2:

@Wardy42 Thanks mate. I'll look into he arch mod.  :happy2:

I've got 12mm all round (lowered on H&R Sport Springs). You will need to do the front arch mod as mentioned.

@Kalpsn2000 Nice one mate. 12mm does look pretty good. Any issues with rubbing towards the rear ? What make seems to be best too ? H & R ?

I feel you. Live in Bradford. Potholes and bumps everywhere. You'll have major clearance if it's not lowered. Depending on your rim size too

I had 19"s on my previous golf gti, standard springs and it rubbed going over bumps, especially if fully loaded. Swapped the alloys for 18"s and felt much better. No rubbing.

19"s on:

Fully loaded

Oh how I miss this beauty. Eventually swapped for 18"s Ch Reps. 18x8j and 8.5j. Still on stock springs but drove beautiful. Wanted spacers on this golf but sadly got written off.  :sad1:

Sat on 18"s

My experience on lowering is that it actually made the alloy tuck in more, or maybe that's just me. Spacers are deffos needed if lowering.

Can very occasionally get rear rubbing issues but only if fully loaded and go through a dip in the road.

I've got Racemax 12mm hubcentric spacers. Not had any issues in the 4-5 years they've been on. One important point, make sure you get hubcentric wheel spacers.
