Thinking of Taking a Mk7 GTi on Lease - Some Questions
« on: January 26, 2018, 05:25:35 pm »
Hi,

I currently have a 2006 mk5 GTi and am considering getting a new mk7 GTi on a 3 year lease.  Ive got a few questions for anyone else here who has taken out a similar deal.

Basically, after speaking to the lease company they told me the car didn't have to go to VW for servicing and that i could use my indy garage.  Alternatively i could take them up on their maintenance deal with the lease which is an extra £22 per month.  Now over 3 years that is near enough £800.  I doubt, but would like a bit of clarification, that a car doing roughly 4k miles per year would cost that much to maintain over 3 years, even with tyres included in the deal. What have other owners paid over a similar timescale? Thoughts?

Also, my mk5 has xenons which are great.  What are the standard lights on the mk7 like in comparison?

I run my mk5 on V-Power as its recommended, is this the same for the mk7?

Sorry for all the questions, its just a case of needing some more info before I potentially take the plunge.  If anyone has any other info/advice that would be great as well.

Thanks

You would be mad to go for that maintenance deal.
All that car is going to require is an oil an filter change every year and with so low milage the tyres  will be fine.
I'd be i ifnterested to know what lease company your looking at and monthly outlay .
I think xenon's come as standard on MK7's .

Yeah, kind if thought there would be no point in adding the maintenance.

There are loads of deals out there at the moment.  Quite a few for around £800-1000 up front then around £250-270 per month.  Been using Parkers lease comparison.

Have you got a mk7 GTi on lease @coolhandluke ?

I would wait until the MK8.  Apparently the current Performance Pack stuff (bigger brakes, LSD etc) will come as standard on the regular GTI, plus a load of funky colours not currently available.

Is it worth taking one on lease now?
