CV Outer Boots + CV Joints Query
« on: February 23, 2018, 03:47:50 pm »
Advice needed

I'm after 2x Outer CV boots and 2x CV Joints - total on Eurocarparts is £81.71

Quoted about £80 Labour to fit.

Is that about right or can I get parts in for less

Any help is appreciated

Sounds good. They are a bit of a pain to fit, so £40 aside is well worth it. I did my driver's side one and it took a good 2-3 hours.

You'll probably want to replace your hub/Driveshaft bolt, as they'll have to come out.

If you get the GKN-Lobro CV joints from Carparts4less (ECP's sister site, but cheaper) they come with the OEM plastic boots, bolts, OEM clamps, grease etc.

Thanks @Pudding, new total with CP4L is now £68.54.  :happy2: :happy2:

Unrelated to this but after some advice on getting a lower dogbone mount too. Should I get the ECS one https://www.awesomegti.com/shop-by-brand/ecs-tuning/ecs-dogbone-mount-insert-kit-go5-eos-a3-jet-pasb6-leo2-oct2/

Or the Superpro ones, along with the smaller bush ?

Saving up for the SuperPro WALK kit for now, but wanna get the dogbone mount in.

I'm not a fan of the inserts myself, I would get the 034 Motorsport ones personally, or the Vibratechnics if you can stretch to it - https://www.awesomegti.com/shop-by-brand/034motorsport/034motorsport-density-line-dog-bone-mount-bushings/

Of the inserts I would probably go with the Powerflex yellow one.   The small end one will add a fair bit of noise and vibration.

SuperPro Walk is a good move.  Get the ones that add 1 degree of caster - https://www.awesomegti.com/shop-by-brand/superpro/superpro-anti-lift-kit-for-mk5-mk6-golf-type-chassis/

Thanks @Pudding . Having read some reviews on the 034 Motorsport ones, its looking like they're a more perm fix. Price ain't too bad as well. Much appreciated. . Will add that to the list instead of getting the insert. :happy2:
