Stage 1 plus hpfp
« on: May 04, 2018, 01:00:26 pm »
Has anyone got any dyno charts of adding an hpfp to stage one hardware if properly mapped for 130 bar? Ideally for a k03 car and driving impressions are helpful also.

Nope however extraoplating the difference between stage 2 and 2+ data gives some indication of the peak improvements (likely @10bhp / 25lbft).

The standard HPFP will be fine at stage 1 power, as that is not a limiting factor at all. Adding uprated internals won't give any gains until going stage 2+ and beyond.

Not really Ollie. It came recommended to me by Revo’s tech team and gave a fair bit more grunt in the midrange even without changing the SPS settings. Might be more worthwhile on the K03 given the spool up happens at lower revs when the cam driven HPFP’s output is also lower.

Here’s some more detailed data logging on a k04 Revo stage 1 car

I think we established this was down to OEM HPFP inconsistencies.  Some engines are fine, others need a pump.

Mine was fine on Revo 1 when I got the car, and it measured 287bhp on the dyno I always use.  My place then flashed their own Stage 1 onto the ECU and immediately it struggled for fuel, with short term trims pegged at +25%.  Clearly ~290hp was the limit of the OEM pump fitted to my engine.   Stuck a Loba on and it shot up to 310hp immediately and an even bigger midrange torque hike.

In summary, I would say Stg 1 K03 is borderline.  Stg 1 K04, absolutely needs one, or it's half the engine it could be.  I personally wouldn't rely on logging alone, just fit VIS internals and relax in the knowledge there is plenty of fuel.
