DSG Service - time interval or just mileage?
« on: May 21, 2018, 03:38:36 pm »
Hi guys,

I know the DSG service question has been asked a million times but this is slightly different. I know the recommendation is 40k miles but I have a 57 plate on just under 33k. At the current rate its likely going to be another year to 2 years before I hit 40k which will make the car, and hence the oil & filter, around 12 years old! VW dont mention a time interval anywhere but i wondered whether it would be worth me considering this sooner rather than later, or whether Im just being paranoid about nothing?

Thanks,

Rob

Mileage for DSG as far as I know and it’s what I’ve followed...

Personally I'd get it done for peace of mind. Around £200 I think.

Thats what I was thinking. £184 on their fixed price servicing - will add it to the list!

Cheers.

Mine appears in the service interval @ 40k miles as well. Nothing said about time, and I'm unsure if DSG fluid would be similar to say a brake fluid or a timing belt where time factors into its care and performance. I doubt it, as the DSG isn't affected by moisture condensation as brake fluid is or how a belt is by time. I change my brake fluid every 30k miles or two years. Timing/cam belt is changed every 60k miles or 4 years.
