Aircon problem mk5 1.9tdi 2005
« on: May 27, 2018, 07:12:32 pm »
Firstly hi I'm new here
So to start owned the car for about 3 years never bothered with aircon but with my o/h driving it I wanna get it fixed so first step get it gassed got that done no luck plugged it into vag-com comes up saying short to plus, traced wires found broken wire fixed now have power and earth at compressor. Still no cold air when it's on the 13mm bolt inside the main pully isn't spinning is this right?
Also what else can I check I can't find any where to were the fuses are,
Thanks in advance

The compressor is probably seized, another thing to try is on vag com (vcds) check that the pressure sensors are registering there’s gas in the system.

I've put a 13mm spanner on the but inside the pully and it moves pretty easy but i can spin that whilst the outside pulley stays still is this right?
Also changed the pressure sensor and now have 13volts at compressor

The 13mm nut should turn with the pully mate the compressors on these are clutchless

First of all as previous member said this compressor type has no clutch. It starts by command  on the valve.
If your pressure in HVAC  system has no leakeage, you do not have any error codes  then after you switch ac on - your ventilators should start spinning (both of them). If your fans do not start - check wiring harness  going to compressor (N288valve if I remember good).
I have the same car and I fixed aircon by myself.
