Adam's Candy White GTI
« on: September 04, 2018, 05:43:42 PM »
Hi guys,
New to the GTI world, although I have owned a few VWs in the passed (mk2 Golf, mk2 Jetta, Amarok)
I just bought an 07 mk5 GTI and so far I love it.
DSG, Sunroof, cruise control, heated seats,
For an 11yr old car, it's really in excellent condition, but was in need of some detailing.
No service history, so did a full service including the DSG Oil/filter. I'll do the cam follower soon

I have some things I want to do:
* Partial "joey mod" (just the stripy silver plate) I believe it's a royal PITA with xenons, but I'm game
* LED DRLs and indicators from http://www.exledshop.com/exled...with-controller-pair-copy.html / USA store: http://www.exledusa.com/exled-custom-leds/volkswagen/golf-5th-20052010.html
* Edition 30 front spoiler
* rear boot spoiler. Possibly this: https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0...com%2Fulk%2Fitm%2F263226885781
*spray the rear valance and side skirts

*ecu tune

That's it for now.

Adam

Hey,
Fine upgrade mate.

One question since I saw you had you headlight lenses off the "body".. My mate will also do this to paint his inner parts black. Do you use heatgun or oven to help the process of being able to pull the lenses of?

Check my build thread if you need some more upgrades - I've done a lot of stuff to mine :)
MK5 TDI 2.0 MY2005 - FULL OF RETROFITS:
MK6 dashboard - MK6 R MFSW - Cruise Control - Discover Media 2 - 2016 Passat Climatronic panel - 8 Sensor parking kit - Interior door handle illumination - Door entry lights - TMPS - Custom made 3D cluster - Side Assist - TMPS Highline - Veyron modded LED taillights - NQSBBK front and rear upgrade... And a whole bunch of other stuff!

Thanks man,
I read a few posts about opening up the headlights. From what I read, the xenon headlights use a "hard glue" and cannot be opened using the oven/heatgun method. Here's a pretty good write up http://www.vwwatercooled.com.au/forums/f15/diy-joey-mod-mk5-xenons-46509.html

I did not remove the xenon bulb as he recommends and had no issues. In my opinion, it's just an extra complication. Just don't take a Jeremy Clarkson approach

While you've got them open, I'd really recommend the exLED upgrade (link in my first post). I REALLY like the new look (see the video above)

Time out time out was going on this site!

Also there seems to be no Admins here, been a member for some time and I'm unable to post anything.........

Lucky our MK5 GTI's are more reliable than this site!
