Did you get the right PCV valve when it was replaced?

Oil will always be in the turbo hoses as it is blown through from the rear breather pipe when under boost. A catch can wouldnt stop that. My car blows out a bit of black soot when under full throttle. The best way to diagnose it would be to do some logging and checking the afr etc to see how the engine is running. I dont think you are burning oil as that would deplete your oil level very quickly. I think it is perhaps you have never noticed it and are convincing yourself there is something wrong. Been there and done that and am glad when im proved its all okay.

Ive noticed my ed30 has a hazy smoke on full boost and hard acceleration. The car is r-tech stage 2+,mileage is 33k and has been standard untill 2k ago.Dont notice it in 1st and 2nd gear, car uses no oil,Have noticed lots of small black soot marks over the rear of the car especially noticeable on the rear reg plate if the car doesnt get a wash after a couple of runs,Car runs perfect though and never had an issue with it and doesnt smoke any other time and never done it before the tune.
Sound like its just rich with the tune ?

With all the soot on the bumper, I'm guessing yours has a bigger DP and decat, or sport cat?

The car won't smoke in 1st and 2nd.  Not enough load on the engine.  Shove the pedal down in 4th from 3500rpm and you'll likely get a ton of smoke

Stock lambda doesn't dip below 0.82 (12 AFR).  I've seen aftermarket tunes dip well into the 0.7s, which explains the smoke.  It's arse covering over fuelling.  They all do it. It's a crude way of controlling cylinder temperatures.

Even standard you get a little puff of grey occasionally, but you should never have sooty bumpers.  That really is excessive.  OEM cats trap and burn off a lot of that excessive soot, hence my original question.

Are you noticing this smoke in the headlights of cars behind at night, or during the daytime?

The cars engine side has revo induction, uprated fuel pump internals, bcs turbo back powervalve exhaust with sports cat, airtec intercooler and a r-tech stage 2+ map.
Have had the injectors cleaned and the valves walnut blasted too.
Car has 376bhp and 423 lbs torque

Its 3rd and 4th gear under heavy load during the day you can notice a smokey mist in the rear view mirror but am sure it doesnt do it every time.
Thought if all the stage 2+ Tfsi engines did it there would be more posts online regarding it.
Needing the timing belt done next spring so might see about going back to rtech for that and asking for the map to be changed even if its lower power to eliminate it.

I would say that it is running rich.  I get the occasional puff of smoke from mine when under load, usually after it has spent a while running around in town. The smoke went from black to grey after leaning off the revo sps fuel setting and fwiw the car ran crisper for it.
