Battery Recommendations
« on: December 02, 2018, 04:33:55 pm »
looking for a replacement...

had the ignition on for around half hour few weeks back and battery went flat. (did have heated seats, xenons on and my phone charging so thought it was just that).

today however was hoovering the car using the cigarette lighter and battery went again, so assuming its on its way out

looking for a heavy duty one please... any recommendations?

Recently got a great deal on a bosh s4 096 at euro car parts. 80 quid I think I paid. Sale still on for another 24 hrs!

This https://www.tayna.co.uk/car-batteries/varta/e44/ I fitted to my eddy after the original Varta had started to fade recently. The Bosch equivalent S5 096 is exactly the same spec but usually a little more expensive. I would say both are excellent batteries with good warranties based on folks choices and feedback in this forum.

Varta and Bosch share exactly the same internals and are both owned by Johnson Controls (USA).

Bosch S5 in mine, just make sure you get the 096.... Eurocarparts and Carparts4less have a habit of listing the smaller 027 battery. I initially had the S5 in that size in mine, but within a year it struggled on a cold winter's morning. Took it back and they exchanged it with the full sized 096 and this will now be it's third winter without issue

If you're a Costco member or know someone it's worth a trip. Their returns policy is excellent too, money back  no quibbles.

I've had a Bosch S5 in mine for about 4 years now, no issues at all.

I got a Yuasa Black from Halfords when they were on promotion.  Lifetime warranty, so can't go wrong with that.
