best size for lowering springs ???
« on: April 26, 2010, 08:48:47 pm »
Hi all,

I'm considering to lower my car with springs and i am tempted to go with Eibach. but what's stopping me to buy the springs now is i want to know what is the perfect lowering for both rear and front without hitting those nasty street bumps? Got a Golf MK5 GTI 2005
The place where i live got quite many those. I'm missing my country  cry

thanks all for the posts.

Found this on ebay http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=220564549092&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT
H&R springs 30mm and the shop/ebayer is in manchester near where i live and they fit it for you.

£205 I think it s a good price for H&R.

think i will go for them . i can also pay a visit to the shop so i can check them onsite

no problem mate ... nice car... seems good to me  :happy2:

can't really see the differences between 20 and 30mm. Though I know that i don't want a car that is slamming the ground.

You think 30mm will be able to cross those stupid street bumps ?

Yo Beddie,

After a few days of considering options and so on, and looking at your car's picture i think the 20mm is the perfect size for me. It actually look awesome.

Beddie can you tell me what brand yours it and where you bought them from?

I got mine a while back from 'VWR' aka http://www.racingline.com/, i believe they are actually 'AP' springs though so can be got a good bit cheaper from here: http://www.dpmperformance.co.uk/ap-20mm-lowering-suspension-springsbr-golf-5-gt-14t-si-gti-20t-fsi-gt-20tdi-1204-p-5952.html

The pics of the silver ED30 on the VWR site show another forum members car on the 20mm springs too, Paulk's car if you want his opinion on them too
