Replaced the main thermostat in my mk5 GTI tonight. Took right on 4 hours including putting loads of stuff I seemed to use away.
Not too bad I thought for a first time. Car gets up to 90° nice and quickly now and stays there.

Yes so far so good! I took advantage of the 20% off offer. The ride quality is improved over the stock 6R set up. Not pressed on with it yet but will report once its all bedded in.

Finally got the Pirelli P Zero A/S Plus-UHP's mounted and aligned....first reaction is they are (in comparison to the Conti DW) quieter, smoother, and yet very responsive with great feedback. It's below freezing here so it will be some time before I can remark on summer capabilities.

I love those alloys but only on audi I always thought. That's because most people putting them on their GTI leave the spokes grey and leave the Audi cap on the centre.

Yours look spot on with the spokes matching the car and the VW centre cap!

Summing up my first week of ownership:
Fixed bonnet catch
Android head unit fitted
Ordered some service parts ready for fitting - cam follower, front thermostat, vagcom
Cosmetic and upgrade parts - GTI emblems for the seat lever inserts, cruise control stalk (the standard one is sticking on auto cancelling the indicators anyway)
Booked in for cambelt, waterpump and main thermostat to be done next Thursday

Hoping to get the car back on the driveway tomorrow so I can get a proper look at what other bits to do next!
