New millers oil and filter plus a new oil filter housing as mine was leaking slightly.

DV+ installed along with Autotech hpfp internals. Everything installed for stage 2+ just need to get it booked in for a map now.

Went to TPS to get a quote on some front end parts and nearly fell off my feet with the final price! Luckily a scrapper local to me just had a MK5 GTI come in for breaking and got myself the front end and few other bobs for peanuts.

Next up my list are:

- Rear diffuser for the genuine R32 bumper (most likely from SRS Tec to get the GTI cutout).
- Bodyshop to repair the scuffs and dinks as well as colour coding.
- Two new front tyres - weighing between the Goodyear ASY3 or Michelins PS4.

Make sure you put the UV protect on after, else they'll turn yellow soon.

Renewed engine and gearbox upper mounts on the driveway with brand new genuine items (along with full replacement of all bolts as they are single use torque/stretch items) at 94k as over winter they had started to creak when cold and I had excessive engine movement on starting.

After fitting, the engine now sits higher/level in the bay and no longer moves on starting/revving.  On the move, pick up is so much cleaner and instant, and shifts from the DSG box are now felt much less.  Very happy!
OEM+ 2005 GTI DSG (high factory standard spec and upgraded with S3 alloy hubs, S3 alloy wishbones, Bilstein B8s and VWR springs by my own hands) owned since 2008 and still loving it!

Given the car a good look over today. There are some bits I am going to have to tidy to do.

Cleaned the interior to remove the awful silicon spray crap the seller had put over everything - degreased with window cleaner.
Fitted GTI seat emblems
VCDS scan revealed a bunch of fault codes - mainly due to a battery replacement/discharge at some point but found a DV fault code which keeps coming back. The others I reset and are gone bar a fault with the drivers door which I kinda know about anyway, as it doesn't always unlock with the remote.
Ordered new DV, cam follower, oil, filter, magnetic sump plug and washers.
Found the problem with the centre top vent, its sticking up due to a broken clip so ordered a replacement in the form of the dash pocket instead - don't see the point in the top vent and it was a lot of money in comparison to the pocket which will be more useful.

Yellow Lamin-X'd the fog lights, I think it really makes the front end stand out. And a good clean, headlights still looking fresh since the refurb.

Next, replace the front splitter. Hopefully with an ED30 one

Also replaced the cam follower, old one below

Lots of things done to my GTI, had a routine brake fluid and gearbox oil change. Finally got the MK6 MFSW fitted along with the Revision G cruise stalk and CH steering control module, really sets the interior off nicely and works fine with the RCD 330G.

@PatchySan - how are you finding the RCD 330G? Where did you pick it up?

Cheers!

It's been rock solid and easy to use with loads of connectivity for your tunes while keeping that OEM look and feel which is why I bought it mainly.

I got mine from AliExpress and they are very cheap now, the RCD 330 Plus can be had for less than £80 delivered which is a bargain for what it offers (link).

I've got a mk5 MFSW, do you think the RCD330G would work with it? Also, does the 330G do traffic announcements like the RCD510?

Can backup what Patchy is saying, got one as well, the 330Plus and it is superb. Run my music off Bluetooth or SD card, charge phone off the usb, and the big touchscreen is great, and it all fits flush with the OEM look.

Hi I'm considering ordering the RCD 330 Plus via the link you provided as it's such a great price, just wondering whether I need to upgrade the canbus gateway?
Currently have original head unit in a 2006 golf gti thinks it's the Rcd300

Thanks Sean
