Been working through the engine, refreshing a lot of tired sensors........but last week I changed the MAP sensor being one of the last original sensors on the 2005 car.........no error reported, apart from lowish mpg for town driving and a continuously sooty exhaust that I have to clean every week.

Well a week on and there is more fuel left in the tank, doing the same daily trips (I used to just survive a week on half a tank) and the exhaust tips are very clean still amazingly.

Will keep monitoring, but impressed so far. The engine must have been running rich and the MAP sensor was stating high pressure in the system when it was not on boost.
Have you got a part number for it?

This is it;  038-906-051-D...do not get the 038-906-051-C because it is a 3 bar sensor and will not work unless tuned to use it.

Had my main thermostat changed today the garage said it was a right PITA. Seems to get up to temp a lot quicker. Hopefully the 2.5 hours of labour charge will be worth it.  :happy2:

I preferred to source the calipers and the pads myself because I could get them for a much cheaper price. I just bought the kit that comes with the discs, the custom caliper brackets and the braided oil lines.

The discs are really light compared with my old ones (13 kg vs 8,6 kg).

They are gorgeous...I never did a weight comparison with mine...I wonder now. Mine are Porsche 993 calipers and I have come to want new GTI caliper stickers to cover the ECS Tuning on them. Going to a vinyl shop to ask what they can come up with for high heat vinyl.

Yours are good looking too and should be light. If you upgraded from the OEM brakes you never had heavy front brake discs like I had before. :happy2:

Since now I had to get the calipers painted red, I opted for the GTI letters, like the new mk7 GTI Pack Performance have. Just make sure to check the adequate size of the letters for your calipers and that the vinyl letters are protected with a coat of heat  resistant clear varnish.
