Air con recharge for me today

Did it sort it? My 2008 A/C does nothing. No difference when I activate the A/C switch. If it’s a simple recharge it needs I’d get it done ASAP but nothing’s that simple with me.

What are the likely causes for an A/C system that does literally nothing?

My "Cool Story Bro" for the day.....I pull up to a red light in the turn lane. Car next to me(Lexus ??), the guy shouts out "like your GTI". He goes on and asks, "it's tuned or something right?"...Yes. He goes on and says, "I was at this light a few years ago beside you in my Camaro SS and I didn't realize at the time how fast the GTI was...and I got on it when the light turned green and you just Dusted me!". I said I remember that, and he says again, "nice car".

Took off the turbo back and put OEM exhaust back on mated with decat.
Only this time I adjusted it so tips sit flush with the valance, never really liked the way it poked out from factory.
Enjoying the peace and quiet again

Tell me about it!  I went back to full standard exhaust, both cats     Do any get any whiffs of exhaust in the cabin?  I think they poke the tips out past the bumper to help prevent exhaust fumes being drawn in through the fresh air flaps in the boot.

Hey Pudding awesome job did you just spray the honey comb or did you spray the solided part my the number plate holder? Great job looks awesome. 👍
Perfect day for a spot of painting in the garden. No one likes faded grey plastics.

I did initially try the £30 ebay chinese grille which is shinyish plastic but I wasn't happy with the quality, so decided to paint the originals instead.

Paints used - Plasti-kote 'Satin Super' for the grilles from B&Q (multi-surface compatible so doesn't need plastic primer), Halfords Tornado red for the pin stripe with a top coat of U-Pol Clear 1 laquer.

Look so much better!

Just the honeycomb mate  :happy2:

Finally decided to get my front right side knocking sorted on my Eddie. Deep breath and opened my wallet W I D E. Let me emphasise W  I  D  E

Total cost £1300 - yes you read correctly..  The rack itself was £763 +VAT

So after living with the knocking and having had all other possible bushes checked and new suspension the only real culprit left was the steering rack. Just got back from AKS after having a refurbed Gen 3 rack with OEM boots, tie rod ends and new loom fitted. I know there have been several posts about knocking and racks recently but in the end it was the right thing to do for my sanity and I am keeping the car for a while. You can just see the old one in the background which is returned to the supplier as an exchange item. Usual computer VCDS changes required due to the way the new rack sends position info rather than the steering wheel sensor. I haven't checked exactly what yet but will check at some point.

First impressions are a much smoother response and actually a lighter feel to the steering. Crucially the front now seems more *solid* and there is no knocking   :happy2:

In addition to the rack the alignment obviously needed doing which has sorted a few minor quirks in comfort and road noise, enough so you would notice.

So the motto is be prepared.

Cheers
Rip

Small price to pay for sanity and improved feel at the helm  :happy2:

Pipe with MAP in. See circled area which looks as if the two parts of the pipe are coming apart... is this normal?

That isn't coming apart, it's just how they look.  All that's happened is you got some airborne oil misting and grit stuck in the gap, which makes it look like it's leaking or coming apart  :happy2:

Yeah did mine the other day.  My least favourite car job.  Also gave the seats and headliner a good scrub with 1001 carpet/upholstery cleaner.  The best there is and cheap as chips!  I'm still finding previous owner dog hairs 4 years after buying the car!!  Dogs in cars, that's a big no no!!  They stink and molt everywhere.

Good idea, or maybe steam cleaning?   Not the headliner though as the glue will melt causing sagging I suspect.

seats out, normal vac and then wet vac seats and carpet multiple times until the wet vac water doesn't look like Newcastle brown. let it dry then spray it all, including head lining with autoglym anti-stink spray. That's what I did to get rid of dog hairs/stench.

Had a play with an Alfa Romeo Giulia on the way back from work. I got dusted pretty easily so must have been one of the higher bhp versions. Nice looking car though I must say.

Ordered a DAS 6 pro plus starter kit for the car's 12th birthday present. Good responsive service from David at www.perfectlycleaned.co.uk who actually answers emails unlike the 3 or 4 other detailing companies I made enquiries with.
