I saw the photo that AKS uploaded when they were doing it.  Some serious work right there ^^^  The car must handle like a dream now!

Car drives now drives and rides how it should have from the factory, to say im over the moon would be an understatement. No more crashy ,jiggly ,vague and nervous  handling.
Hard to tell which components have made the most difference,as so many changed parts all at once, but the steering is just how i wanted, much more responsive with less wheel input (almost feels like a quick rack) ,more neutral aswell, always used to get heavier with half a turn of the wheel, prob due alot to the reduction in unsprung mass.
I was really apprehensive about spending so much money on suspension, worried it would( like in the past) take away all the nice things vw gave the car, ie. smoothness, relatively comfy and rattle free ect.
Alex knows what i dont like and i have a feeling he thought they would be off and fitted to his vrs in a week

Worth every penny and some imo

so you got them in the end then garrie? gotta take me for a spin one day.

Oh Yes... not the first version ones I originally tried to get, lost patience with those and lumped out for the readily avail kit, although when I ordered them Ohlins were out of stock in Sweden and was quoted 5-6 weeks delivery(which I was informed would probably be nearer 8-9 weeks),so booked in with Alex for mid December, then they turned up in less than a fortnight :rolleye:then AKS were fully booked and couldn't get them on earlier, the temptation to fit them myself was immense.
A bit over budget, but phuk it,cant take it with ya, plus i'll put it on the price of the  jobs in the new year

Was meaning to ring you :happy2:, but got side tracked by work. Demo's welcome, gives me an excuse to use the car. Alignment Tuesday :happy2:, might even have brakes by then  :booty:

Sounds typical of one of @vRSAlex s geometry setups.  When my car has been in for a geo check it comes away with great turn in, response & grip. Loads of fun!

I'd love to try ohlins!

I'm quite supirsed by the performance of my car, it brings a lot of smiles . After having a skyline a few years ago, it's not a fast car but it holds its own and is quite happy playing with Subaru's and Z4's so far so I'm pleasantly impressed.
I had a budget of up to 4k but all the GTi's for that money were high mileage and a bit rough around the edges, so even though I still wish I'd held out for a gti I'm quite pleased at what I got for the money I paid.
Now have my third Golf
1st  in 1994 - 1983 GTI Mark 1
2nd in 2002  - 2002 GTI 2.0 Mark 4
3rd in 2014   - 2007 GT TSI 170

So over the weekend my MkV and I did the following:
Drove to Luton from Liverpool - Got an Entire interior refit (lovely leather - thanks Usual Suspect)
Then from Luton to Cockfosters (family reasons but that name makes me snigger).

Sunday I drove from Cockfosters to the lovely Great Yarmouth to visit Eddie-NL and get a whole heap of mods fitted:
Cruise Control
White Highline cluster
MK6 MFSW
Bluetooth!

Then my MkV and I drove home - all the way back to Liverpool.

As a side note - does the east coast not know what a Motorway is?

I solved a problem at work today  :happy2:

We have a see through sticky back film that we stick to the carbon fibre on the aircraft parts before they get delivered to the customer to protect them. This roll of sticky stuff costs nearly £800.00!! and when we cut strips off it it gets covered in sh*te off the bench which causes waste and dirty hands!

So here is my contraption, its designed to cut the pieces of film to the perfect length, keep it clean and you don't have to have your fingers anywhere near the stanley knife when you cut it!

Here is a pic of it and one of the dirty rolls next to it

Had an eventful drive home as well involving a sheep and a very large puddle!
