Blow out a50 well done to Tfsi Wife
« on: February 25, 2012, 03:23:17 pm »
Just want to share how proud I am for Tfsi_wife for keeping her cool & keeping control of the lupo after the rear tyre exploded @ 70 mph on the a50 westbound this morning.  Not sure how I'm picking the Cupra up from BCS as the tyre took out the back bumper and taillight with it.  :sad1:

Anyone know any silver lupo rear bumpers in the scrappys?

Hope she's okay. Was the little'un in the car too?

Would be interesting to know what happened.

The GTI isn't just a machine. It's very much a living, breathing thing.

She did herself proud by the sound of it, blowouts are no fun, I had one on my truck a few months back, never had one on a car though

Well done to your Missus!  :congrats: :congrats: :congrats: :congrats:

But really glad she not hurt.

Was it a case of "I thought I heard a bang behind me... Oh well, never mind" and keeping her foot down, or a case of snaking and opposite locking!?  :driver:

Was it a case of "I thought I heard a bang behind me... Oh well, never mind" and keeping her foot down, or a case of snaking and opposite locking!?  :driver:

I've seen her panic when an animal was in the road but this was "bang" some thing clearly wrong, held the wheel with 2 hands, off the gas and nursed it to the edge. Was no hard shoulder or lay by though  :scared:

Highways agency got the police to close the lane quite promptly after my 700yd run to the SOS phone.  As we were just beyond a sweeping bend.  I must've had Harry out I the bak and over the barrier onto the bank in under 10 seconds.
