2.0 TFSI 4 motion
« on: April 19, 2012, 12:18:29 pm »
Bought a car to strip and take on track for a little fun, plans were basic, uprated suspension, ARBs, stripped interior and subtle engine upgrades. Car was a 2.8 v6 4motion and went quite well at first, from this:

to this:

With the help of these:

It went well through the corners but was just a little boring. Engine wasn't powerful enough so with the help of http://rtek-motorsport.com/ we did what everyone said couldn't be done and put one of these:

into here:

Using the single OEM ECU which ended up in it running first time, running over 300bhp with a very linear power band and going like this: https://contour.com/stories/trackday-donington-park-20112011--3

I believe it was an engine out of an S3.

Love this car, followed it on Club GTI. And seen it nearly roll at Bedford!!

Thanks a lot mate. As Deako said it is indeed a ko4 s3 engine.

It is a good laugh! Great to see peoples surprise on their faces too!

does the awd system work?  i am just making a awd 1.8t version,  far more simple  lol.

Everything that was originally on the car still works including the AWD Haldex system. I've now taken the A/C out for a little more weight saving.

OUCH!  :surprised:

Luckily it was only wheel damage! Could have been so much worse! Plus I've now got the cage going in at R-Tek Motorsport, they've got updates on their facebook page: http://www.facebook.com/pages/R-Tek-Motorsport/110065635723264

Go on - Where's the video?

Unfortunately no video at the time, do have other videos here though: http://www.youtube.com/user/MrAbe7?feature=watch

Yeah, using the o2m mk1 S3/TT quattro box with standard rear diff with no problems.

Yeah, only difference in gearbox (apart from slight variation in ratios) is the belhousing to attach box to block with slightly different mounting points.

ECU is the s3 one because only VW know how to run the TFSI properly and clocks are mk4 ones. Unfortunately I don't know the ins and outs of the electrics because the electric and can-bus systems are to complex for me. Mechanical side I'm fine, electrics not really, which is why I took it to R-Tek. Still works out more reliable and cheaper than trying to get the same power out of a 1.8T which is always nice and getting the same linear torque you get from the TFSI engine.  :happy2:

that is very interesting! nice work  :drinking:  how did you get around the gearbox mounting points?

U got me thinking now lol, i just rebuild an AGU! with rods valves,  AUM TB, ECU, LOOM and VVT unit!     Your idea would of been so much easier lol!
