Me too mate, I would like to find out if they had previously done the repair as it would be interesting to see what they say if they have already been repaired for rust once by VW.

Go to your nearest VW dealer I think.

Pop in to your nearest VW dealer or approved body shop, they'll take some paint thickness readings and submit your claim. Then be prepared to wait at least a month before you hear anything back. Some have had it sorted within a matter of days, but compared to my (ongoing) experience, they seem to be the lucky ones.

Cheers, my local dealer is less than a mile away so I'll be popping in asap.

Oh no.... after washing the car earlier I have noticed the offside rear wing has small rust bubbles showing and the inner lip of the arch is brown and looks rust like. The other side rear is fine.

I thought it's mainly the fronts that go bad? I checked the fronts too and they seem fine. I even removed the foam crap from inside the arch liner.

Gonna keep an eye on the rear arch as the car is 9 years old and has 3 years left.

Well after registering my claim with VW in Edinburgh at the end if July last year, I have finally had the wings replaced FOC this week! Although now satisfied with the outcome, I must say that the customer service has been absolutely appalling. It took 2 months for them to be able to see me on their system, and another month for them to actually submit my claim. Pleased it's done now, but I would say to anyone feeling like they're not getting anywhere to persevere, it's worth it in the end!

Does anyone who has had success have any advice for getting the dealer to play ball?

Mine has a slight bit of rust and it would be nice to have it repaired under their warranty!

....I'm rather glad you didn't ask me if I could wank over a copy of the VW PDF !!!!  I love VeeDubs but I draw the line over doing that!

A copy has been winged over to you by email - Note that it's for the wings and not sills.
I dont suppose you could fire that over to me incase they decide to be assholes do you please?

Uh oh.  The rusting is most common on the front wings and sills, but not so common on the rears.   That will be a sand back, treat and repaint job because the rear arch is part of the double skinned rear quarter structure.  Big job to change that out.  Best get yourself to VW quickly before it gets any worse!
