After practising on TC's car at Awesome's open day, I felt happy to attempt it on mine

The Product: -

OSIR O-Shift GT, supplied by robokn

Installing: -

Tools needs: -

10mm Spanner or Socket
Medium Size Flat Blade Screwdriver
T15 Size Torx Screwdriver
Small Mirror
Neddle Nose Pilars

Step 1 - Disconnect the Battery

Remove the negative terminal connection from the battery using the 10mm spanner or socket.

Step 2 -Removing the Airbag

Drop the steering wheel all the way down and extend reach all the way out to give as much room as possible.

Turn the wheel one 1/4 turn to the right

Now using the mirror to help see what your doing use the flat blade screwdriver unclip the airbag.

Now turn the wheel to the left and repeat.

The airbag should now be loose. Pull it forward and unclip the two cables (yellow one on the top and black one on the bottom).

Step 3 - Removing the existing paddles

Undo the torx screw near the multi-function wheel buttons

Pull the buttons out and disconnect the small cable that goes to the paddles

Now undo the second screw that holds the paddles onto the wheel.

Carefully pull out the paddle and feed the cable through the steering wheel.

Step 4 - Attach the new OSIR part to the existing paddle

On the existing paddle the button part is held on with a pin, this needs to be removed to separate the paddle.

From the bottom of the paddle start by push the pin through.

Once slight pushed through it can then be pulled out from the other end.

Note - if it sticks then lift the small tab in the middle of the paddle the sit half way down the pin to help hold it in place.

Now being careful separate the paddle from the button, there is a spring that you need to reuse!

Once separated drop the spring in the hole on the new OSIR paddle

Clip the two parts back together and reinsert the pin.

Now reinsert the paddle back into the wheel feeding the cable back through the hole in the steering wheel.

Screw the paddle back into place and insert the connecting cable back into the multi function wheel buttons. Screw the buttons back into place.

Now Repeat for the other side.

Step 5 - Refit the airbag and reconnect the battery

Reconnect the two cables from the airbag to steering wheel.

Line up the airbag on the steering and push it back into place until both clips lock into place.

Finally reconnect and battery negative terminal and tighten the nut.

Crack open a beer or have well earned brew to reward yourself for not setting off the airbag

Here's a night time pic showing the new paddle lit-up with the red back lighting

....

Steve, it looks like you had TID paddle extensions and you've replaced them with these by OSIR.

Did you find you didn't like the TID's? I'm wondering why.

^^ Yes I did have the TID Paddle extensions (Alu ones), which are now for sale

With the TID ones I found that they didn't work that well for me (for example you can't change gear using the very end of the extended paddle) and look too non-oem with the way they stick on to the existing paddles

Plus with the TID paddles costing in the region of £180 compaired to the OSIR ones being £65, given the choice again I would have saved myself a big chunk of cash.

The OSIR ones are shaped on the back and are slightly larger than the stock ones so give the benefit of being more usable when pushing on, feel better to hold (even with saugage fingers like me) and look more OEM when fitted.  :happy2:

Fair enough Mr Steven Sausage-Fingers!

The TID's don't look so aftermarket in black carbonfibre and you can't see how they are fitted anyway unless you've left tape hanging out.

I'd be very interested to have a feel of your OSIR paddles when we meet at The Ring.

The most important thing is that you're happier with them :happy2: 8) :happy2:
