ST Suspension
« on: February 21, 2014, 01:37:58 pm »
Hi Guys

Anyone know any more about these? In the market for some fast road with the occasional track day suspension set up. These seem relatively cheap given they are adjustable and come with adjustable top mount too....they are glavanised not SS but just after any comments from you seasoned pro modders.

http://www.demon-tweeks.co.uk/performance/coilover-suspension-kits/car/volkswagen/golf-mk5-gti/st-suspension-st-xta-coilover-kit-with-adjustable-top-mounts-lowers-front-20-45mm-lowers-rear-10-35mm

Also saw in PVW about CATUNED (Hack Engineering) coils, but they seem to be BMW only!?!?

After any advice. Best to stick with the main players (KW or Bilstein)?

I would love some B16 PSS10 Billies but not sure I want to sink that kind of cash for adjustment that I might never used.

My choices seem to be between:

- BC Racing Coils c£800
- B14 PSS9 Billies c£800
- B12 Sportline kit
- B16 PSS10s at c£1500!
- GAZ?

I will do maybe 3-5 track days a year but the rest would be fast road use. Car needs to be relatively comfortable but I do not do long commutes in it so happy for it to be firm, just not all out track firm.

I'm also thinking of buying these, does anyone have any opinions on them as I can't seem to find a review on here.

Im thinking about getting meister but not sure how they perform over B12 ,vw racing, ST suspension and so on.

+ the comment on ST. I believe they are what used to be Weitec coilovers (still made by KW) and Weitec used to get rave reviews on Briskoda when I had my mk2 vRS.

ST's are made directly by KW in the same factory. The only difference being that the ST's have a galvanised steel body rather than stainless for the KW equivalent.

I checked this directly with a couple of KW dealers (Tuningwerkes and DPM) and then directly with KW when I bought a set of ST XA coils for my track TT. Even checked spring rates are identical to the KW v2. When my order was delayed (due to a backlog at the factory), I went to KW in the UK to get updates and they could tell me when they'd be manufactured and dispatched.

Hopefully picking the car up on Monday!
