That was when I first got the car. It's done 35k miles since then, so coming up due for another one in a few thousand miles.
Sarcasm for free. Anything after that can only be considered as a bonus.

Just because you think you know something, doesn't make you an expert if you've just read it on the internet, y'know.

Hi guys,

How often, "by the book", should the fuel filter be changed? I usually stick with Mann stuff.

I have a 1.6 FSi.

Thanks.

AFAIK, there isn't a service schedule for the filter on petrol models.  Same with the gearbox oil (manual) and (I think) the coolant.  'Sealed for life'.  Yeah, sealed for the duration of the warranty more like.

I replace mine annually.   As said already, fuel is pretty dirty.

This is why enthusiast owned cars are the best cars to buy, because they ignore VW and replace said stuff anyway.   A 10+ year old full dealer history GTI will have 10 year old gear oil, 10 year old coolant and a 10 year old fuel filter

Thanks guys! 18 months - 2 years probably won't do any harm then?

Re: the gearbox oil. I can't even find the drain or fill on mine! It's a 2007 1.6 FSi. Any ideas?
