Painted Key Fob
« on: November 19, 2009, 10:07:12 am »
Interesting idea this one - not perfectly executed mind, i can see it being doomed from the start and prone to some serious in-pocket chipping

but original idea none the less

Like it very much VC, could you not gloss it with something to stop it chipping?
Also, could have taken the VW badge off, sprayed it, and then put hte badge back on to get a better and fuller coverage.

....

Sorry but I think it's pretentious.

It's also totally impractical in terms of surface durability. My VW key badge graphic rubbed off within just a few weeks.

I think the badge only rubs off it you had a Metal Badge...the Rubber badges are fine! I have 2 keys, one that hads rubbed off, and the other is fine :)

I honestly thought VC had painted his keyfob candy white and I actually liked the idea. But as stated, you would have to make sure you kept the key in a loose pocket without any other items. Even then with wear and tear, the look would be ruined and it doesn't even take much!

Besides, my car is black.

The GTI isn't just a machine. It's very much a living, breathing thing.

....And you only ordered your car in black to match your key fob.

i did enquire at the bodyshop and they also said that it wouldnt withstand  the pocket, they said they did a mobile phone to match a car and it just didnt last so put me off the idea - else the post would be of my key not someone elses  :innocent:

being candy white it would make mine look very "ipod" and with a black .:R logo and the OSIR fob replacement chrome panel it would have looked swish imho

but simply wouldnt last, shame  :sad1:

as for boy racer? its a key fob guys  relax a bit  :P
