Angel eyes - the Xenon solution? (no haters thanks)
« on: November 23, 2009, 08:30:35 pm »
Angel eyes aren't new, nor are the halo light rings that ebay spits out for cheap money and then you have to bake you headlight to warm the seals so you can split them open and install the hoops - then reassembling and hoping your lens's dont suffer with condensation from that point on.

So the other option is to change the entire unit for something like this:

(Parts for euro)

High quality DEPO product, Direct replacement Uses stock 10-pin adapter Hyperwhite High/Low bulbs and chrome coated amber signal bulb & Angel Eye ring bulbs included. H7 high/ H7 low / PY21W (7507) signal. Leveling motors included. *# Patented Super bright Angel Eyes. Left Hand/Right Hand Drive adjustable. If you choose the HID option, VAG-COM mods are required for HID not to trigger codes

now they are fine if you like the design and dont have Xenons

i think this is all down to me fancying something interesting for sidelights and not taking the usual audi LED strip option, but that above option is not an option

....so then i find these:

You've got more taste than these VC   (But fit them then sell me your Xenons is of course what I'm trying to say )

IMO AE's look out of place on anything other than a BMW really, just my preference.
The light units themselves look quite cool, but I'd be disappointed to see a MK5 wearing them.

i appreciate the constructive critism guys  :happy2: but this is for the Eos, the headlights are massive. i'm not an eyebrow fan either but on the Eos they sit very nicely - with this in mind is why i wanted to attempt to liven the lights up a bit

i do fear the chav label, and i know i get borderline with it too  but the Eos enjoys the fettle and custom slant to it - the golf needs a bit more pedigree and respect  :innocent:

Some advice from an old hand - When it comes to lighting subjects on most forums, it's a sea of marmite. I would go for whichever you think looks right and ignore everyone else's opinions.

Personally I don't see why BMW should have a monopoly on AE's anymore than LED strips on Audi's.

You're not a chav and anyone with half a brain can see that you're not, so don't be concerned about that.

indeed dude, youre running battles regarding your running lights can be a bit misdirected by people sometimes, legendary thread though

i'm not fussed about scene points and always do what i think would compliment a car...but sometimes, when theres a tiny seed of doubt its nice to air the idea and collect others opinions  :happy2:

personally i like them Vc,ave you a link for them

which set? the first are supplied (that i found) by parts4euro.com or partsforeuro.com or something

the second set (the claimed Xenon compatible) i found here:

http://www.cargym.com/volkswagen-golf-gti-r32-mk5-white-ccfl-angel-eyes-kit-p-1416.html

$69.99 from a company stateside  :happy2:
Mine :happy2:

nice pic

that would be the look i would be aiming at...however without the LED strip and would plan to only illuminate the inner rings

....Agreed. As designers we are hardwired into always questioning our decisions and checking things out from every angle to make sure we've arrived at the best solution we can at the time. Also, none of us are perfect and so we can miss something which others can point out.
