mk7 knob

Anyone fitted a MK7 gear knob. What mods need to be done to fit :smiley:

You need to remove the staples that fix the gaiter to it's frame and re-fix them in the mk5 frame. Might also need to cut a bit of the gear lever stalk.

Forget it. If you look closely at the Mk7 r shifter it has a 'see through' silver section a bit like a golf tee holding the ball ( I guess that's what the designers were trying to achieve) this means the shifter onto your Gti / ed shaft sits about 30-40mm higher. The surround onto the fascia would also need swapped. Just go to VW and swallow some pain killers, then hand over credit card in tears as they stiff you almost £300 for a replacement knob.

Ive fitted a mk7 GTi one to my golf,

I had to shorten the shaft a fair bit the only thing whic was annoying is did locate properly but thats now sorted
