Adam0604 Bagged Graphite Blue MK5 GTi
« on: May 22, 2015, 11:31:16 pm »
Hi All,

So I posted up an introduction thread earlier this week, advising that I had purchased my new car after a month of searching within a 100 mile radius of where I live for a Golf GTI. I wanted to make sure it didn't have too many miles, had full VW service history, paintwork was in good nick etc etc.
Finally though, after all my looking a garage just 4 miles down the road from me got this little gem in, and I wasted no time in securing the buy.

In my opinion, it's a lovely example of a MK5 Golf GTI in Graphite Blue. Can't really fault the exterior at all. Interior, pretty much spotless.
07 plate with 65k miles, full VW service history. MOT recently done in March.
Here's some photo's I took when I got it back home today having picked it up:

Everything about the car is standard, nothing has been done in terms modifying it..... yet

MODS DONE:

FK Highsport Coilovers
RAMAIR 90mm Oversize induction kit
Heko Wind Deflectors

Pressed plates w/surrounds
Whiteline 24mm RARB
3SDM 0.06 wheels - staggered fitment

Thanks for reading.

:congrats: Very, very nice, it looks in great condition. Good spec too. Loving the monza 2's, same as mine. Have they been refurbed with the black inlays?

Graphite Blue is actually my favourite colour for the mk5 GTI, I couldn't find a good one in my price range when I was looking to buy. I settled on my second favourite, in the end...black

I would check the usual suspects first before modding and mapping. DV, Cam follower, PCV to start with. (If they haven't been done already). Enjoy it standard for a bit. Then it's a slippery slope into modding

There's a mountain of advise and how to dos on here if you need it....enjoy your ride..

Thanks for the kind words!

As far as I am aware, the alloys have not been refurbed. The garage I bought this form said they were standard from factory. Can't say I'm overly knowledgable about these particular alloys, so can't say for definite if the case or not. I love them though, look brand new.

It took me ages to find a Golf without any major defects in paintwork or alloys, really keen on this colour too. Only got serviced end of March, so everything should be in order.

I've already purchased some fK Highsport Coilovers from a mate of mine who has just taken them off his S3. Only 3 months worn and sold them to me for £175.00. Bargain! Should be £400.00 brand new I believe!
Not having them from him until end of next month though once I have some more funds in the bank.

So just a small addition made to the car today. Ordered some GTI seat inserts as I think they look pretty smart. Stainless steel ones off Ebay for like a fiver.
You've all probably seen it before, but here's before and after shot:

Should have two other small changes to update about by end of the week hopefully :)

So a few updates for you all.

I went and bought some 6k LED number plate lights off eBay for like £20.00.
Didnotexpect the brightness, but I like it.

The plan was to buy my air induction kit next, but my mate suddenly decided he was selling his AK Highsport coilovers from his S3.
These coilovers are usually in the region of about £350-400.00 from what I can gather, and he was selling him to me at mate rates
£200.00  :P

So this weekend me and a few guys helped fit the coilovers to the car.
Really pleased with how it's sitting now. BE GONE ARCH GAP!

This is about the best photo I have of it before having the coilovers on. I forgot to take one on flat ground properly

And the after shots on flat ground

Not had chance to drive much since fitting them, but the ride isn't much bouncier than it was standard tbh.
I can barely tell the difference. And there are no helpers in either.
Chucked it round few islands at 60mph and it handles pretty well. Would recommend these coilovers if you aren't looking to splash out on a £800+ set of Bilsteins etc.

Looks so much better lowered! Really shows how high they are standard
Future plans? Wheels?

Yeah it's so much better now. Hated the arch gap. Just have to be careful on speed bumps now as it does scrape a little if they are the massive ones. Thankfully not really any about where I live or commute to work.

August I should be getting a Carbonio induction kit. Which is the next thing on my list.
Probably invest in some HIDs too and interior LED bulbs.

Unlikely to change the wheels anytime soon. Really like the MOnza IIs I have on now.
Just need to possibly refurb the one, where it looks like water has got underneath and started to bubble round the centre cap.
