Turbo Flutter/Surge off throttle - DV solenoid?
Last Poster: muff1991 in Mk5 General Area on Today at 01:37:34 PM
hi all, still chasing turbo flutter (as well as small rev hang) on my GTI. I cant figure out what it is... I'm now wondering if the solenoid on the DV isn't pulling the DV back when I lift off the throttle and that's what's causing the flutter? its such a pathetic flutter too.. I don't want it fluttering..! would of thought i'd get a code or something but nothing. holds boost ok.

Re: Flat Battery, and After Trying to Start Car the Alarm Keeps Going Off, Grrrrr
Last Poster: muff1991 in Mk5 General Area on Today at 11:49:58 AM
I heard before, someone had trouble with alarms going off... turned out to be the voltage in the battery dropping triggering the alarm I think. if a decent charge doesn't sort things out... get a new battery, and make sure the terminals are tight too.

Re: Collecting a rear bumper and tailgate - will they fit in car?

Thanks. Can confirm it fits but you have to push passenger seat forward because of the bumper length.

Re: Temperature Sensor
Last Poster: aaronk.juju in Technical Workshop on Today at 01:55:24 AM
Ye I get that. I'm concerned about the oil not being at operating temp before I put my foot down, rather than it overheating. At the moment I'm just waiting 5 minutes after the coolant has reached operating temp, which isn't that accurate, and I'd just like to know the real temp. I guess I am going to have to spend a bit and buy one of the mentioned units.  :sad1:

Just adding some photos of the radio and sub. Amp is attached onto the back of the sub so I can remove it easily if I need to do an airport run.

How is the build going? I've decided to order a do88 IC too, following your build and the performance tests shared by do88. It's going to be fitted tomorrow. I'll probably need WMI during hot Summer days, still. Currently, I have a THS replica from Darkside Developments.

Is it missing/lumpy all of the time, or just when cold?  RFD does apparently cause cold start roughness, but should smooth out when hot.

Glad to hear it's driving better  :happy2:

true, although I did sit in traffic the other day next to a AMG C63S and it looked fantastic and the sound of that V8!! but it would wear thin if it was that loud inside for me.

I understand the sentiment but it’s better (imo) to give the community first dibs on the decent cars, instead of WBAC or traders getting them and selling them on for uncommunity spirited inflated prices.

The forum is the quietest it’s been in years, so could do with some activity

Installed some rear ambient lighting, kept the kids amused for 5 mins.. I used a Audi B7 led module I had previously fitted in a B7 A4 Quattro I used to own..
I like the fact the LED are sunk into the housing so can't be seen during driving etc.

ABS and Traction control lights came up again and saying it was rear left... again... So changed the rear wheel speed sensor and they've gone out again. Had to remove the hub again to remove the sensor.

I removed the securing screw for the sensor then while pulling on the sensor to remove it then the head of it came off and left the finger part sticking through the hub c

New tyres all round and full alignment setup on a Hunter last weekend.
Found a seized caliper on the brake disc change last week so today we have put a refurbed one on, full fluid change, bleed (including VCDS ABS cycle), bled clutch.
Fitted a scrapper bonnet to the car as well - been living with that for nearly two years (which is why I only paid 2 grand for the car in

I bought these alloys from Greeners many years ago. He had them refurbed with gloss black inners by A1 wheels. I loved them and used them every summer for about four years. Until I got married. And bought a house. Now no time for car shows and money is spent on the house instead. These are taking up space in the garage and I need to let them go.

Wheel 2 had a further refurb following an accident in 2013. There's a slightly wider lip around the edge. It has a brand new Michelin PS3 tyre. One of the other tyres has >5mm, and two remaining tyres are 3-4mm IIRC. Michelin Pilot Exaltos.

PM me if interested. Open to offers. VW wheel bags included.
I'd prefer collection as you get a chance to inspect the alloys.
