No problem, I was surprised how much it all came to but I only wanted to do the job once and as the car is 11 years old and had done 124k I thought it was the right decision to renew all the bits and I still think it was. The only things I didn't really need to change would probably be the rear top mounts and the bump stops but now it's all done and I don't have to worry come MOT t

I would love to see it.

There must be thousands of MK7 Golf R engines laying about soon after all the cheap Hire purchase cars come back in after the 3 year loan deals   :signLOL:

I'd go for a comprehensive set from halfords as well, as stated you'll also need a set of triple square bits as well ( got a Clarke set from machine mart) and I've also found halfords ratcheting spanners a God send on many an occasion as well. Depending just how much work you plan on doing I'd think about getting a tool chest / cabinet as it's amazing just how quickly you accrue to

I thought the reg looked like it was one of the VW press cars, but hadn't yet dug out my old VW driver magazines to check!
Nice bit of extra history to have about the car, and at least it wasn't the one that 5th gear caned around Rockingham!

Loving this build.

I didnt realise it was the mk6 gti/Scirocco engine?

for some reason I thought it was a Gen3

TSI friend!

The gen 3 first appeared in the A3 with the introduction of the MQB platform cars in 2013, so gen 1 engine unfortunate

That's the results of a 4th gear pull

I don't understand why the actual is higher than the specified a number of times? Surely if it was a boost leak it would be significantly lower than the specified?

Not sure mate.  My Dad and his forces mates used to buy RHD cars whilst posted in Germany, then bring them home afterwards. They used to get an army discount and the cars were German spec.

Maybe in this case it was a German spec car imported over, registered here, then taken back over.  It can be hard to trace sometimes.

Re: New speeding fines
Last Poster: r5gtt in Mk5 General Area on Today at 02:18:14 PM
That's just the speeding range and will be discretionary.  They can't put "35 - 40" because people will just think 35 is fair game and drive at that speed all the time.  No one is going to be prosecuted for doing 31mph.
lol I hope so as I've been doing strict speeds now this s**** law
