Forge engine caps
on May 20, 2018, 04:46:40 PM
Anyone know where I can get these caps in chrome? I saw them a few years back before I got my Edition 30 but I've spent weeks looking for some and can only find ones for the mk7 GTI.

Any help appreciated.

Had a bash at this, and no combination of breaker bar or ratchet would work.

I've ordered some ratchet socket adapters which will allow me to put a 19mm spanner on the end of the socket - might give me the room I need, but probably not the leverage.

One more attempt then it's off to the garage :(

I just got a generic single din cubby hole off eBay. I added some packing on the teeth that hold it in place so it didn't just slide out, it fits perfectly.
I cut up an old mouse mat for some padding at the bottom.

Hello there, really like your GTI, Black is the hardest colour to detail and keep looking great, but when it is they are hard to beat! Sounds like you have had some cars man! Favourite so far?
Yeah get on the warranty for the paint, mine has rust too, the stealer checked mine saying the paint was too thick and must have had a respray. I couldn't find it in the history of the c

In a car this heavy, 20KG more on the front it's close to nothing and you could always balance it by moving the battery in the back. Also with a good AP Racing brake system, engine brake should be neglected, it makes almost no difference other than destabilizing the car without heel and toe downshifts.
I'm still to find a clutch that will work perfectly with 7000 rpm shift an

My car is still off the road, as I've been so busy with other things (went to BugJam for the day which was fun) but hopefully this week she'll be running again. I'm taking my time over things.

I've got all the parts I need now. Managed to get the sump off last night. I used a 1/4inch flexible extension to get the two awkward bolts, dealt with them very easily, I'd recomm

It can do but it's not a straight swap, the metal lever rod has to be cut shorter and re profiled, there's a guide on here somewhere, try doing a search.

Same as above.

Tank was about £90 from VW. I think others have gotten much cheaper Chinese clones from eBay that do the same job. Up to you.

In good working order, one blind has a slight tear which can easily be stitched up and the welds on the rear shades have come loose, easy to fix with a bit of glue but this can't be noticed at all once installed. Really practical and excellent for kids and security, has been a god send in this weather! Cost over £100 new. Selling for £50 including postage which is a bargain.
