It's a big step up from the last mk5, which was on standard suspension.

The diff makes the biggest difference and really pulls you into the corners and gives a lot of confidence. I do feel like the ARBs give it a planted feel too.

The springs are a little crashy I feel (compared to previous coilovers and even the the clio 200 cup - which was hard). So these ma

Still having issues!

It seems like the plastic pipe connected to the mirror which goes into the roof has unconnected and doesnt clip in (difficult place to see)
the mirror has clean come off the windscreen, all thats left is a black square on the window

Any suggestions? VW quoted £250 for a new mirror  but my mirror is fine, just dont know how to a

I was going to buy these aswell.
But was concerned by how cheap they where spoke to the seller and got he's PayPal details but decided against it in the end.
I was worried about the fit and if they would fit at all.
You've done a great job on the calipers and hope you get it sorted a

Last Poster: jason_rmh in Mk5 General Area on Today at 08:58:37 AM
The car goes into limp mode if boost is higher than expected.

By cycle ignition, I mean turn key to off then turn on and start engine again.

Doing this normally resets limp mode, which is when the car limits revs and boost to protect the engine when it detects boost outside of its acceptable range.

It doesn't sound like this is the case for you thou

Hadn't realised the contis don't come in 18", that's a shame. Would've tried them next...on goodyear asym. 3's on the golf at the moment.

The contis come in 19" up, so still an option for you guys running 19" wheels.

But then you'll have tyres named after a crap hotel breakfast.

LED Replacement sidelights
Last Poster: Hafod in Mk5 General Area on Yesterday at 08:32:23 PM
Hi
Following failure of one sidelight accompanied with the yellow dash light decided to replace both sidelights with LED types.  They arrived today.  I note from previous topics on LED sidelights I do need to take care with polarity.  But my issue is removing the existing tungsten bulbs.  I've tried, and tried and ...well tried again - my bones will be exposed soon and I will

Cruise Control is in and working  Really pleased! It only took an hour, and cost £13 for the stalk

no changing slip rings, steering wheel controllers, adding wires to pin 13's. Plug, code and play for me.

Last Poster: sean.smithy94 in How to Guides / Troubleshooting on Yesterday at 07:18:27 PM
These gearboxes are horrible. Very agricultural and noisy, but they can go on like that for years without causing problems.

You need to be a bit more specific about the noises.  Does it whine in every gear, or just particular ones?

The clutch noise, is it a rattle/clattering

Either the pipe has fallen away from its port behind the ashtray, or possibly a flap problem although I believe the rear vents are on all the time, as I don't drive in the back dunno, lastly if the armrest was retro fitted and usually no one can be arsed with doing the job properly and people don't f

Just like to add my timing chain and tensioner replacement seemed to go smoothly, car feels much better now and nice not to have it sounding rough when up to temperature.

i kinda agree Pudding, you're right, I just believe ed30 were scrimped on in the braking dept by VW and if you start upping the power, it finds their limits sooner.

I didn't realise the op was on about a regular gti but it's just nice to have a bit more under the middle pedal as well as the right one. Lots of folk bought a gti to drive it just as spirited as an R32, and

Great condition as can be seen, only down side it the airbag vw badge was removed and replaced with an ABT badge by a previous owner, usual little marks from human nails etc tried to get them in the photos but you honestly don't see them once fitted.

The steering wheel is probably the best on sale at the minute for this price, not your average very shiny very dirty one it has been deep cleaned for 3 hours so it's fresh and ready to use.
