Title: Lapiz blue Golf R
Post by: howie1987 on January 06, 2018, 06:33:57 pm
Been a busy last few weeks. But finally getting to putting this thread up.

So after the edition 30 i've got myself a lapiz blue golf r mk7.

Picked the car up from falkirk on the 19th of december.
Fvwsh.
36k on the clock.
6 month warranty.
5 door.
Sat nav.
Dsg.

Anyway i had already booked it in at volkswagen for an oil change on the 20th of dec, so had that done all good. Somthing didn't feel right as it was wheel spinning alot more than my edition 30 and that was stage 2+ and golf r just didn't feel as planted.

I already had it booked in for a haldex fluid and dsg fluid change and stage 1 apr reflash and dyno on the thursday at ecotune. so i got them to check it out etc. The haldex pump wasn't working hence the wheel spinning. cut a long story short, a bit of messing about with the dealership for a few hours and it finally got sorted, booked back in for the 5th of january.

So through the holidays i got a few other things done....

Eiback pro kit springs fitted 10mm/15mm.
Audi resonator delete kit.
Some alluminium black paddles.
Vinyl strip door guards.
Climair wind deflectors.
Pipercross panel airfilter.
Goluk t1 front and rear dash cams with  parking security mode.

So finally the 5th came so haldex fitted etc and now to the dyno. I wasn't expecting it to get over 360bhp but its final run made 381bhp and 390ftlb which i was suprised about. It was finally getting to drive it with 4wd working i was most looking forward. It's insane just sticks to the road and gets the power down so well.

I've gave it a good wash a few times but within 5mins its dirty again.

Future plans....

First one is a big brake kit or bigger brake discs and pads at least.

Ceramic coating to keep the paint work nice and protected.

Set of oz ultraleggra wheels or pretoria wheels.

Next year stage 2/stage 2+

Needing a clean but here's some pictures.(https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20180106/f479aeccf8150973cac2690993eab42e.jpg)(https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20180106/ed24782f0469194e040249cbd2c0b020.jpg)(https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20180106/6b9b1ae1d2b4b3dc4e7c3250d628d868.jpg)(https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20180106/a3ce491336d45ced629b357dc2010533.jpg)

Think i might go for some of these wheels in gunmetal

Racingline R360 19"

Not decided yet.

Also took delivery of maxon design sideskirt diffusers. But im not decided if i like them so might send them back.  Not sure if they would look right without a front lip, which i won't fit as i don't like the look of them.

Also got some 340mm front discs and 310mm rear discs and some goodridge braided brake lines. See how they go before i splash out on a big brake kit.

Very nice example you have there Howie, and it'll be interesting to see how accessible these 7R's become as more come into the used market off their PCP ownerships.
Not trying to spend your 'hard earned' but.....have you read the Feb edition of PVW. Interesting feature on the Revo IS38ETR turbo upgrade. Despite the costs getting on for the best part of 5 large, the performance figures consistently achieved are insane for a 2 litre hatch.
0-60: 3.2
0-100: 7.18
30-130: 11.17
That was a DSG so maybe the manual might be a few tenths down but I remember years ago (I'm talking 1980's when I was a lad) but some of the Porsche tuners in Performance Car mag were chuffed to crack 0-100 in 10s. That's progress.
Anyway, I've gone off track a bit, I'll enjoy following what you do with yours :happy2:

Cheers mate. I've not seen it, but yeah its crazy figures. And with the awd it puts it down well, think power wise i'll be happy for a good while haha.

Was out in the snow and it even puts the power down well in that. Cruising by everyone stuck on hills with a grin

Had a busy week.

Fitted maxtondesign sideskirt diffuser's and rear little side diffusers. (Wasn't sure about these)

Front and rear brake discs and pads and brake lines.

Some rs6 alloys 19" with 4 goodyear eagle f1's (again wasn't sure about these) growing on me.

It's booked in for ceramic 9h coating nextweek.

Here's some pictures. Scottish weather isn't allowing me to keep it clean. A little update.

Since i've had the car done in that ceramic stuff..... it's so much easier to keep clean.

With horror story's i always see of these cars being stole i got an autowatch ghost immobiliser fitted for peice of mind, great bit of kit and a thief can't move the car even if he steals my key.

How are you finding the Autowatch Ghost? I can imagine putting in your pin each time you get into the car be a bit of a pain, but i suppose if it keeps it safe, then its probably worth the time/effort!

They guy that sorted the reversing camera out yesterday installs the Ghost stuff, so thought about getting it.

Its cought me out nearly everytime i've jumped in it since getting it once i get use to it, it'll be fine though.

But yeah its peace of mind.

Apparently if you have an iphone there is an app and via bluetooth car just disables once the phone is in range.

Not been on here much been busy with work etc.

But a little update.

The rear ebc discs i put on were just basic one's,i put on anti corrosion spray and still rust makes it look 5 year old. so there off and a lesson learned "buy cheap buy twice" as they say.

The start of stage 2 have started earlier than i planned. Impulse buys

Some more parts on the way so hopfully come the 2nd of may it's stage 2.

Ever since i got the dash cams, i keep meeting some idiots on the road. Leaves you thinking what goes on in peoples heads. And also hearing my road rage has made me think aswell

Thats about it just now.(https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20180416/a5911dc56e14eb6867074afa5fe52675.jpg)(https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20180416/a491996f5ce92a88d8eff7c8014ef3cb.jpg)

Update.

So got a few parts fitted.

Scorpion downpipe with sportscat.
Vwr600 intale
Vwr turbo elbow
Vwr muffler delete
Airtec intercooler
Apr dogbone mount

Stage 2 apr map done at ecotune. It made 408bhp and 436ftlb.

Car does feel fast etc but i'm not sure i like everyday driving with it stage 2, see how it goes in next couple of weeks.

Had a nightmare with potholes or craters. Buckled a wheel and got it fixed and then today 4 days of having it back i kerbed that wheel. Not kerbed a wheel in about 10year so i've made up for it

Decided i'm going back to oz wheels, always had a soft spot for them. Seen a cracking deal for a last set of superturismo's in grapthite.

Small update.

Finally got the brakes and the wheels on.

Chuffed with them, but i can see myself getting the wheels done black in the future.

Was tinkering with the idea of getting the calipers done in yellow. But nearly £300 to get then professionally done i thought was a bit steep. So keeping them all black.

Nextweek got the silenced mid section going on and thats it about done. Well for now.(https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20180523/de17a2cdbbac56bd25d3dd29c5df6c96.jpg)(https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20180523/f996f34a40e31b3d6d7fb6887793c393.jpg)(https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20180523/f837d6973bbdea20824eb374cb1eb847.jpg)(https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20180523/5475a680f692598383215406c8b8d978.jpg)

Hi mate. Yes i did. Tbh i don't like it stage 2 race mode is great. But normal mode is basically redundant now as it sits in 4th gear till your above 60mph unless you go into manual.

When i was stage 1 it was perfect and id say its worth it. Think being stage 1 you are safe to stay standard with the dsg. But stage 2 you need it.

If it was me and i was going stage 1 id get the dsg done again. I'm thinking of going back to stage 1 tbh. It's even crossed my mind to get a custom map done from MRC.

It is alot of money though. Do revo not do deals every now and again for 10% off like APR do. Might be worth waiting for one of they deals.

If your close to any of they 2 id be doing that before apr or revo. Not that revo n apr aren't anygood i just prefer custom maps. 12 hour round trip put me off though haha.
