Title: Audi TT by _Dejan_ (Stage 3 = 340 HP)
Post by: _Dejan_ on March 23, 2013, 03:23:28 pm
Hi,
Im Dejan and I come from Slovenia. My previous car was a Fiat Stilo (1.9JTD 160HP/360Nm) and now I'm a owner of a used Audi TT mk2. I don't know how I will modify this car, but I think less than previous (Previous project can be see HERE (http://www.carpc.si/forum/general/show-off-your-project/fiat-stilo-by-dejan)).

Car is Audi TT MK2 2.0(FWD) S-Tronic  MY2007

Ok I will stop talking and show some pictures of my car :)

Then Im buy new exhaust for my car. Im buy Bastuck TT/8JT-Q76E which is quad exhaust and have EC certificate...

First it was necessary to look at what Im bought :)
(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.carpc.si%2FGalerija%2FAvtomobilizem%2FAudiTT%2FExhaust_Bastuck_1.jpg&hash=41fad274cf0000c47477b2516c4494d9b231de6e)

Then it was necessary to cut a hole in the back diffuser (Later I will make/buy carbon diffuser so this is a temporary solution):
(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.carpc.si%2FGalerija%2FAvtomobilizem%2FAudiTT%2FRear_Diffuser_1.jpg&hash=3a32dbca611308956149d6e2c66322f4fbfd6c59)

Original exhaust silencer:
(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.carpc.si%2FGalerija%2FAvtomobilizem%2FAudiTT%2FExhaust_Stock_1.jpg&hash=d700ab1fe176078ce51a2d8bcaeab72372673304)

And let's cut it :)
(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.carpc.si%2FGalerija%2FAvtomobilizem%2FAudiTT%2FExhaust_Stock_2.jpg&hash=212d332abcb2adb7f4d2f5e5cee0323b4014c18a)

And install a new one:

Then Im instal new gasket(Original Audi) and new downpipe:
(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.carpc.si%2FGalerija%2FAvtomobilizem%2FAudiTT%2FBilly_Boat_Downpipe_9.jpg&hash=203cf5e304fa65301aba504984d6dd2a91ccb62e)

Next mods in plan is Pipercross Intake(HGHFISV01) because is only one which have EC/TUV approval(There is also KN and RAID one but both looks worse) ... After intake I will make Stage 2+ ECU remap.

If u will go on stage 2+ , than u should go dsg stage 2 also, don't u think? if we are talking revo software.

Im on K03 turbo and have been told that I don't need Stage 2 DSG remap. It will be needed when I will have big turbo(K04 or GTXXXX)...

From REVO:
Quote
Stage 1 DSG Software is designed to work on your car whether it’s standard or tuned regardless of the performance stage.

Stage 2 DSG Software has higher shift points in sport mode, as such is designed to work on cars with more significant hardware modifications; K04 Stage2+ or Stage3 K04 and above. If used on a car of lesser performance hardware specification the engine will take a long time and strain to reach the shift points in sport mode.

Not a bad job mate, considering you did them in situ.

I'm surprised your still rocking the same callys in Stag2+ form though.

Im do it same as on my previous car(take alloys down, clean and paint) which now have around 2 year painted brake calpiers and color is still on them(hey are little darker because dust leave efect on them) :)
I didn't understand what you mean with second sentence :)

At least strart with some front s3 brakes... :drinking:

I think they are not option(because they are to big) for winter wheels(17"). In our country we have a lot of snow and not good road cleaning service :)

Not so true.  17' can go on s3 brakes with no problem. i had them on this winter.
And they are also audi alloys, so it won't look so ''bad''... like this

Few weeks ago Im make service on car and also change front brake discs and all brake pads. Im accepted the decision that I will buy and try EBC Ultimax brake discs(USR1386) and EBC Redstuff brake pads(DP31945C and DP31518C). I don't know how this combination work because Im still in break in period... I know that when I drive 10-30km/h and slowly brake I don't have anymore sqeaking breakes :) sometime I get some quick noise but can't repeat it when I want :) With original Im repeat squeaking on every stop :) also I hope that I will get less dust on my alloys :)

Few pictures:

Sorry mate, I meant how do they perform?

I didn't want buy OEM anymore because they have been noisy(high whine) when I slowly brake at low speeds and OEM has also produce a lot of brake dust. After change noise has gone and I have a lot of less brake dust. But they are not for track days because after few(10-20) hard "stopping"(From 130-180km/h to 50km/h) I can fell losing brake power... but for same price as OEM ones they are better...

Because Stage 2+ is not enough Im make on my car Stage 3 :)

First Im find garage and park car :)
(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.carpc.si%2FGalerija%2FAvtomobilizem%2FAudiTT%2FK04_Upgrade_1.jpg&hash=9ed1115f8c87638f420bd534d4b477ab963501c0)

Then Im change intercooler and silicone hoses:
(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.carpc.si%2FGalerija%2FAvtomobilizem%2FAudiTT%2FIntercooler_Hoses_3.jpg&hash=829127f66ecb524f538277260cd5da11b0b888bb)

(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.carpc.si%2FGalerija%2FAvtomobilizem%2FAudiTT%2FIntercooler_Hoses_4.jpg&hash=c5379b5b52a2cc4a2cb487a368aa774512e4d4b8)

Im also buy Forge Motorsport Throttle Body Hose:
(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.carpc.si%2FGalerija%2FAvtomobilizem%2FAudiTT%2FForge_FMMKV1_1.jpg&hash=45603714d0e2c26424165a937677cd625f69b2a5)

(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.carpc.si%2FGalerija%2FAvtomobilizem%2FAudiTT%2FForge_FMMKV1_2.jpg&hash=cc52d75acddbf20514e2c26c2cc14703936e32e9)

And buy "new" Throttle Body Motor(done 2500km) because old has sometime generate error:
(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.carpc.si%2FGalerija%2FAvtomobilizem%2FAudiTT%2FThrottle_Body_Motor_1.jpg&hash=ea6f3835cf43f270ea671974bdc29b67599a148c)

Then Im take down intake manifold and clean intake valves...

Before:

I have been on dyno(We make 53 runs) to get best remap and most HP from car. We have stuck at 340HP and nothing doesn't help increase it. We are limit torque so this is not max what turbo can do because I don't want broke DSG...
This is what we get(red curves are Stage 3, blue are Stage 2+):

Dejan,
great build thread, you've been making very good progress.

Did you remove the inlet manifold and other bits and cleaned the inlet valves ? What happens to the carbon ? It'll hit the turbo blades ? Then block the cat ?

Did the IC fit on ok with no modifications ? Is it like this one ?

hi,
Yes Im remove intake manifold, because Im instal S3 injectors... In same time Im make valve cleaning... When you cleaning valves your piston MUST be in TOP position!!! Before you go to next cilinder valves you MUST vacum all carbon so you can't have any carbon part in your combustion chamber because it will make damage to your engine!!! When you finish cleaning first cilinder you must by hand turn your engine "belt" and top next piston...

IC fit without modifications. Only part which missing are BOLT's and you can't use original ones... It looks same but I can't confirm if is real same :) My cost me 220GPB with shipping but now has seller increase price and cost 560GPB with shipping to me...

Ok -
remove intake manifold
turn the engine with the spark plugs removed so it is TDC (inlet valves closed)
then you use those brushes with an electric drill, then use a vacuum cleaner to suck out the carbon ?
Sounds risky to me, I don't have the courage to do it! So this is the negatives for TFSI ... dirty inlet valves.

Im make mistake. Valves must be closed and not piston in top position... Im not mechanic so not shure if valves are close when piston is in top position but if I remember it is. So important thing is that valves are close, that carbon parts don't fall into combustion chamber...
Im using brushes without eletric drill and Im do cleaning by hand brushes (better feeling to not damage anything) ... Im using brushes from THIS (http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/38pc-WIRE-BRUSH-SET-STEEL-BRASS-NYL-ON-1-4-HEX-DRIVE/261664545184) link... Im use vacum cleaner to suck out carbon and also air compressor but protect outside engine because you will have carbon everywhere :) Also use protection glasses!!! First cilinder Im do by wet process with using Liqui Molly Valve Cleaner, leave valves wet and after few minutes start cleaning them. Im find that dry process is easier and easier to suck carbon out... So all other three cilinder valves i do without liquid ...
If you have basic mechanical skils, tools and a lot of time I don't see reason why you can't do this alone and save 200GPB or more ... Do not forget change all gaskets with new ones!!! And if you pull out injector change teflon seal!!!

Long time ago has my shift paddle for "up shift" occasionally(1-2x per month) stop working and Im decide to change both to alu version... Because new at audi is little expensive Im start searching on ebay and after few months searching(every few week Im check for new items) Im found one seller who sell new pair for 110€ with postage to my country :)

New vs. old one:
(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.carpc.si%2FGalerija%2FAvtomobilizem%2FAudiTT%2FShift_Paddles_1.jpg&hash=966eb89ba6b767d55004de0ea9258368e0c07b51)

And both changed:

Winter is almost over and it is time to put my car back to road... But before this I need to do some things on it :)
Small packets of things already waiting... Other are still on way to me...

Car need oil change service so Im decide to take Millers NanoDrive 5w40 oil:
(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.carpc.si%2FGalerija%2FAvtomobilizem%2FAudiTT%2FMillers_NanoDrive_5w40_1.jpg&hash=da1319c9eadcca49df60ca3facff37ca0ce44b8d)

Because rear disc and pads are worn out Im decide to change them to something else and together change also first brakes...
First Im buy MTEC C-Hook Black discs:
(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.carpc.si%2FGalerija%2FAvtomobilizem%2FAudiTT%2FMTEC_Brakes_1.jpg&hash=f1e100c8d1a1277cd5ede7d37b878d3f60050420)

Yesterday Im spend some time in garage and start preparing car for new season...

First Im take off oil pan and check oil pickup pipe which is original one(150k km) and it do not look so bad:

(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.carpc.si%2FGalerija%2FAvtomobilizem%2FAudiTT%2FOil_Pickup_Pipe_1.jpg&hash=3bf9839d97b2cac8f309d23fed192f790de0f934)

Im change it with new one and do main service(oil, filters).

Then Im remove powerflex dog bone mount insert and install 034 Motorsport one.

(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.carpc.si%2FGalerija%2FAvtomobilizem%2FAudiTT%2F034_Billet_Aluminum_Dog_Bone_Mount_Insert_2.jpg&hash=67e980f4b869e2efeba146fed8426f9f493a2762)

Im remove HG-Motorsport turbo muffler delete and K04 pipes from turbo to intercooler and replace them with Spulen Boost Pipe Kit. Another side(Intercooler to intake manifold) of boost pipes I will change later...

(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.carpc.si%2FGalerija%2FAvtomobilizem%2FAudiTT%2FSPULEN_SE-024KT_Boost_Pipe_Kit_1.jpg&hash=83f72ae8e59816dfedf6977cfeee8d508dada967)
