Title: 4 wheel refurb
Post by: willni on July 17, 2017, 09:37:13 am
Getting all four wheels refurbed and was wondering what colour to go for on the pescaras, for tornado red. At this point I'm between;

VW Titan Grey (oem)
Anthracite

Thoughts and if possible pictures?

I'd go with the titan grey personally.  Thanks for the paint colour  :happy2:   Is it available it touch ups and rattle cans from the dealer do you know?

In exactly the same position, although I wanted something a little different when we out some options up against the car the factory colour just looked so good so stuck with it.

Don't think they give it out, since they want the refurb work unfortunately, I'm not sure if it's the exact colour but older mk5golfgti posts seem to say it is.
The audi wheel below is Titan Grey code 8AU and it seems quite similar, so you can get it made up with the code.

OK thanks.  My wheels were (badly) refurbed in what appears to be that colour, and it's started to flake off after just 1 Wonder Wheels application - revealing a light shade of silver underneath.  I just wanted some for touch ups until I can get around to the hassle of sending them off for a better job.

Same has happened to be by previous owner paints white wormed and blistered, which ruins the look of the alloy a lot. (Don't think they got the right colour at all tbh)

Highly recommend pristine alloys in England, i'd use them but i, £120 or so per wheel but you get what you pay for.

I had my Monza's refurbed two years ago using the same Magic Black paint as the car bodywork, more like the Mk6 fitment. It didn't however take long for the lacquer to start peeling once again and I will likely replace them with TD1.2 or similar in the near future and also benefit from losing a fair chunk of unsprung rotating weight plus get better offset / clearance for BBK without spacers.

Thanks again!  It's good to know you rate Pristine.  I've used them a few times in the past and they did a great job!

Yeah they did bbs hypersilver (one of the hardest colours to get right) on 20 inch or so and they still look great coated them in Gtechniq C5 to help add protection need to recoat them again soon gonna use c5 and exo on them (exo keeps tar and brake dust off)
