Title: Black VW boot badge
Post by: Carrera2RS on April 14, 2011, 07:13:34 pm
Anyone know where you can buy a black MkV Boot badge for a 58 plate Pirelli (curved back in the inside) I bought this from ebay but the back is flat and the edge is not the same as my boot badge  :sad1:

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Golf-MK5-5-V-Black-VW-Boot-Rear-Badge-Decal-Emblem-GTI-/220693278308?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item3362582e64#ht_3379wt_907

I wonder how much a factory badge is, I could spray myself ?

I had the same problem.
Bought that exact badge & its not even for a mk5
I'm simply just gonna spray the original badge myself  :happy2:

Quote
It is made of strong material and comes with self adhesive foam tape pre-installed and has a flat not curved backside.
(please keep in mind the badge may require modifications to the trunk release and / or the backside of the emblem, since there are different MK5 models on the market.)

It's a fair point but the advert does say may and specs years to 2008, without seeing it and looking you don't know tbh. It could have been easy right ?

If the add had said not suitable for xxx then I would not have bought

Shame really

I also bought the front black grille badge from the same seller which fits perfectly but its the boot badge thats the problem,
I sent them a mail regarding the fact it don't fit mk5 golfs, early style or 3d style boot badge.
But funnily enough not had a reply & that was weeks ago & the same badges are still for sale stating they fit mk5's lol
Maybe a nice mail to E-Bay will solve that problem.

Well I had the early style whiteworm type badge.
Bought a new style badge off a member on here, took off the silver VW part, really easy to do,
then simply gonna spray it black myself when I get the chance.

Don't have a clue about wrapping, sorry.

Has anyone tried to spray an early style flat mk5 bootlid badge? If so how did it go? Any tips?

Cheers

I vinyl wrapped my flat badge and then used a sharp craft knife to cut out the middle parts..

Ive painted my rear badge 4 times and cant get the correct black I want. Next step is to try Plasti-Kote gloss black or Hammerite to try and get it right.  Ive even tried Vauxhall metallic but no good.

I've been looking at these badges and questioning the whole flat or curved badges, is it to do with the badge or the boot?
