As title really. I have a new laptop which came pre-loaded with Windows 7 Home premium 64bit. I've tried to install my copy of Elsawin, but it just won't have it and keeps failing on the first stage of the install.
Has anyone sucessfully installed in on Win 7 64 bit ? If so, how did you do it and what version are you running please, or is it a definate no go ?
Works fine on my desktop with Win 7 HP 32 bit so don't think it's windows par sa, more the 64bit environment ?
Cheers
Andrew

hello there andrew, i had the same problem trying to run Etka on W7.64.
Try installing windows XP mode, its brilliant! got etka running here right now! ;0
-
Cheers for that Jay.
I've just tried to download XP mode from Microsoft's website, but apparently it's only available if you have either Win 7 Professional or Enterprise editiions. I have neither, I have home premium.
Bloody microsoft......
-
I know it runs on 7 32 bit but as Jay says you need to run as XP and also as an Admin.

What's Elsawin?
-
It's a VAG Dealer system some functions of which are repair manuals and current flow diagrams.

acquire something like vmware which allows you to run a virtual machine within the windows 7 environment, you will need a xp iso image to install on the virtual machine.

Thanks, don't know how i missed that :stupid:
Are the wiring diagrams any good in it? That's what i used most in my mk4 one...
-
I have the haynes manual and for little things its quite good but the wiring diagrams are excellent on elsawin,
This is the only good thing about XP been able to run the likes of ETKA and Elsawin on it,
My last netboook I installed a dual boot and used Vista and XP.
