Edition 30 front spoiler/splitter
Last Poster: Jarre in Wanted on Yesterday at 11:15:24 PM
Unfortunately had a run in with a big metal bar that had been left in the road and now I’m in need of a new splitter for my edition 30! My car is white so a good condition white one is ideal but I appreciate I’d be lucky just to find someone with a splitter in general!

Yes definitely. They aren’t the best with fuel economy and defo not what the manufacturer figures are. But! The GTI is just so much fun and every penny is so worth it. Mine is just stock right now 200HP and I still haven’t got bored of the power, always beating people off the line when they think it’s a standard Golf.. lol  :happy2:

Re: Performance VW Magazine - Any subscribers?
Last Poster: bobby_fodge in Random Chat on Yesterday at 08:21:30 PM
I got it until a few years ago. I just didn't renew my subscription.

I'd never buy air suspension or cover everything in carbon but I still found most featured cars interesting.

I much prefer classic car mags as they go into more detail about how to do such and such to your cat. And generally, the cars are more interesting, mk3 escort vs Audi a1 in perform vs.

Nice updates

My rack will need replacing at some point as it knocks also, so I'll probably do the same as yours!

LSDs are hard to get right on FWD. They're great in the dry but in the wet, they can be a hinderance as you don't want both wheels spinning mid corner!  I reckon the Wavetrac with the MK6 XDS ABS ECU is probably the best every day package.

Is it actually a full misfire or just a little lumpy at idle?  They can be a bit lumpy at idle in general, especially during warm up.  Do things improve after a long drive with plenty of throttle?

New injectors will definitely improve things.  When I put new ones in mine, the idle was so smooth, I couldn't tell if the engine was running or not and had to look at the rev

Given the HPFP has contacted the cam, I would add a new one to your shopping list.  Even as little as a mm shaved off the end of the HPFP plunger can affect the flow rate. Something to bear in mind if you plan on a Stage 1 remap in the future.  A new one from VW is around £200+VAT.

I would add a chain cover gasket to that list.

You will also need a new bolt fo

You might find the B12 Sportline (red springs) a tad stiff for daily use if you want refinement, not that the standard ride quality is especially plush to begin with!

B12 Pro (black springs) is what you need

If you're used to SC5s, you might find the PS4 XL a tad harsh over broken surfaces.  The SC usually rides a lot nicer than it's competitors, but as you say, the cost of that is squidginess approaching, and on the limit.  You could consider the SC Extreme if available in your size. SC6 is out I think as it starts at 19".

The PS4 XL is well worth a slight increase in NVH,

Re: Doors and boot not unlocking 99% of the time with fob?
Last Poster: probedb in Mk5 General Area on Yesterday at 11:09:08 AM
Definitely not the fob. Booked in on Monday, am assuming it's probably the controller since all 4 doors and boot remain locked.

I also hadn't realised pressing and holding unlock makes all 4 windows come down partially and doing the same when locking puts them back :D

£50 I payed to get a new key programmed.

The board inside my key was damaged stopping the central locking from working so I had a new key programmed. Just swapped over the transponder and had a new key cut.
Can PM you his contact number if your close to Huddersfield.

Hello, just bought a Mk5 DSG GTi
Last Poster: Gibbo1998 in New Member Intro's on January 17, 2019, 05:58:30 PM
So after 4 BMWs - e30, e24, e36, e39 - I'm finally fulfilling a long-term dream to have a GTi.  And OMG why did I wait so long?!  Most fun car ever!

Whilst my funds couldn't stretch to an Ed30, I have managed to bag a fresh, low mileage example.  I should be able to get stuck in to a few items that need sorting.  Hopefully I can follow my first ever posting with an image

VHT Paint For Calipers
Last Poster: bobby_fodge in Mk5 General Area on January 17, 2019, 04:51:32 PM
Hi, I've got some Porsche calipers I'm going to refurb and paint. The only VHT aerosols I can find online are black/red/blue/grey, does anyone know where sells a decent range of colours?

And what temperature does the paint on the calipers need to be able to stand up to as I've found VHT paint that says it's suitable up to 150c.
