Title: Symptoms of a knackered engine/trans mount?
Post by: AJP on July 09, 2018, 06:25:36 pm
Evening all.

Recently been getting a big 'thump' or two on starting as it fires. I always start in neutral, foot off the clutch. Tried it with the clutch in, no different.

I'm thinking it's a shot mount, as it's almost always when the engine wobbles into life - there might have been one other occasion at low speed going onto the throttle. I've had it in mind to renew/uprate the engine mounts for a while anyway as it's starting to feel very sloppy.

I'm booking it in soon but just wondered if anyone had experienced something similar.

Cheers :)

Grab the engine firmly on top and give it some good shoving forward and back. Excessive movement and noises will be present if you do this.

swapping the one under the battery tray is very easy, there's a guide on pelican parts, as there is for the one under the expansion tank.
