Hello
Last weekend i fitted an oversized RamAir intake. All went smoothly and all tight and secure well it certainly feels that way. When i start the car idling is fine but after driving for 10-15 mins it now idles at 1100/1200 RPM. Also if i do a tiny blip of the accelerator it rises to 2000 RPM then falls back to 1100/1200 RPM. However if i then drive slowly for 5 mins it might idle back at its normal 800/900 RPM.
First thoughts were PCV or DV along with boost leak. PCV checked by pull the dip stick out and it almost stalls so ruled that out. Can't see if the DV is faulty but it was replaced when i bought the car 1-2 years ago. Checked all the jubilee clips apart from the one right down at the intake but we ensured it was really tight when fitting.
Thoughts please. Once i have this fixed it remap time and i want that soon.

go over the whole install of the ram air make sure you have put the jubilee cips over the pipe and make sure it is nice and tight, also take the maf off and give the port it goes into a good check and clean make sure when you put it back in it seals properly and pushed the weather seal down.
also when your car is idling high have you checked to see if the maf is dodgy

Im gonna check the clips again tonight. MAF was new a few months back. Ill remove it and make sure the pipe doesn't have anything in it too.
Also near my work there is a garage who can perform a smoke test which will tell me if its DV or my boost hoses. I suspect boost hoses as it only started this after the RamAir was fitted.

The new one is P2279 - 002 - - Intermittent
The first one is prob the fact i have a sports cat and will be mapped out.

I am not the person to answer any vcds questions as i am yet to get one and look into useing it, plenty of people on here that really know about the vcds i am sure they will be along soon to help out as always.
Hope its something simple and you get it fixed asap i know what its like when things dont go 100% spot on.

this might be of help to you about the Leak in air intake system, would also explain the system to lean at idle (dont quote me on this i might be wrong).

I am quite clued up with VagCom and work in IT so the coding stuff i understand. Just not the best with my hands in an engine.
Got issues with boost leak and now the CanBus Gateway. My weekend is free with no plans so laptop out to fix stuff and will try get the clips moved up a bit and tightened even more.
I want it remapped!

good stuff have fun :drinking:

I have exactly the same problem after fitting the same ram air kit last week. Been trying to find out the problem with no luck
-
The first and 3rd fault codes are the clues. You have an air leak. I'd start my investigations with the turbo inlet pipe.
-
Well i had the car in for a smoke test to check for a boost leak. Thankfully there is no boost leak but the N80 valve was stuck open so that has caused the issues i think. Going to replace it tomorrow.

good stuff hopefully thats the last of it for you bud

Well i fitted the N80 valve last night and the car is idling perfectly.
Now to figure out why my parrot system isnt working. Hopefully i just accidentally pulled the plug out when fitting the GPS aerial.
So it wasnt the ram air intake which caused the issue just the fact fitting it made the issue easier to spot.
Now do i get a 2nd hand s3 intercooler then remap or just a remap??

What stage remap do you want?
Other than the ram air what other upgrades do you have?
Taken from the rtec website to let you know what hardware you will need
(http://r-techperformance.co.uk/2-0-tfsi-tuning/)
Stage 1 = Any hardware upgrade as long as cats and fuel pump stays oem
Stage 2 = Intercooler – induction kit – sports cat / decat full performance exhaust
Stage 2+= Hpfp – intercooler – induction kit – sports cat / decat full performance exhaust.
Stage 3 = Stage2+ hardware upgrades with K04 or K03 Hybrid turbo with s3 injectors and RS4 pressure valve.
